Default reverse t-56

I have an 05 v and recently replaced the trans because 2nd gear was grinding. the one I replaced has a reverse issue. it doesn't always go into reverse. looking for any suggestions on a fix.

I'd say 1st thing get the pmc clutch master cylinder. This should stop you clutch from dragging which is what sounds like happening.

If that does not work you need a clutch.

I just installed new clutch and slave cyl. and fly wheel. But this is a used trans. I'm a little confused because it's not doing it all the time.

everything is stock and bushings where good, I did place washers on trans mount to stiffen it up. not sure that is causing my problem though.

My reverse syncro was borked, in addition to all of the worn bushings. Those two corrections made more of an improvement for me than my tilton master cylinder from philistine.

I swear over on cf.com someone had posted a rebuild of reverse, but I can't for the life of me find the thread. He did it without pulling the tranny.

Point being that although the master/slave hydraulics are a reasonable suspect, there are folks (like the author of the thread I can't find, and Fweasel) who find their reverse synchros are toast or some other mechanical issue resulting in reverse being very finicky.

I believe his name was bigassogre or something to that effect. He pulled the *** end off the tranny while it was still installed in the car, and shimmed a shifter fork with a washer after replacing the syncro, keys, and other t56 consumables.

Not positive but I think that thread is here. Whether it's on cf or not I can't comment. Don't go there much but it does ring a bell.

Edit--Here it is:

Yup, that's the one I was thinking of. I guess searching on the wrong site would explain why I didn't find it!
