Man, you are really going all out for shift feel. Ever since I dropped in the CS shifter, I lament the fact that while a massive upgrade, it still doesn't feel as good as my LT1 T56 with a ripper, LS1 T56 with the pro 5.0, or any aftermarket GTO shifter I've felt (2 or 3), or even the aftermarket V2 I drove once. That said, the guts can be upgraded for similar (ish) capacity so the way I see it, this is a long way to go for shift feel. That's bona fide crazy, man...I like that. Buy once, cry once...you're in on it.

Don't discount the built-in fluid pump and the additional torque-handling capacity. For a Magnum-ish V1 trans, it's like $4K+ and you send your trans in as a core. So if you have a working trans now, that's a $5000-$5500 cost plus 2 shipping charges. Then if you want to add a cooler, you're buying a rather expensive electric pump and wiring that up(where?). Going to have $300 in the shifter either way. So it's expensive but not THAT expensive assuming I get off my butt and sell the other stuff. Also can use a standard LS1 length bell so I can use a proper scatter shield.

And parts for V1 T56 are disappearing and creeping up in cost.

Yeah, not cheap. Hopefully worth it! Should be here next week so we can at least get some pics and measurements..then start measuring the headaches.

What else can we buy with 4 doors, an LS and a manual transmission...I've done Vettes, Camaros and Mustangs and don't plan on going back. If this works, it'll be worth every penny.

Till something breaks...I thought the Cadi tax was bad, Audi prices for parts is insane, I will never own another one that is outside of factory warranty

Can't argue with AWD. Don't want to work on it, but the delicious traction.

The prices I've seen for nice examples puts them almost in used V2 territory so I feel like it's a little bit of an unfair comparison. Personally I'll take a whiny-*** PD blower over turbos any day. You can always add a turbo to that setup later.

But no man pedal. I've driven some well-calibrated paddles but it just felt like a damn video game(and I've been a gamer in periods of my life). I'll have one until they make it illegal and even then they'll have to find me.

Its always about money, if it wasn't you wouldn't be so tweaked about having to repair your 10 year old car.

The SSs I have seen struck me as a bit generic. I like the GXP better but think the V1 is the best-looking of the bunch while still retaining some sleeper effect.

Hard to beat the 6.2 though. My good friend has a GXP with a BTR stage II cam and exhaust and put 48x HP to the wheels through an automatic. Pretty impressive. But still a damn auto.

If you want an M6 car with 4doors and an LS under 20k, it's the V1, period. Any other M6 V8 will cost even more to maintain and fix. If you want something newer, you double your price from high teens to high 30s...if you're lucky. You can do a lot of mods and maintenance for an extra 15k and the low stress of the lower payment/price can't be overstated. For warm fuzzies, a V2 will practically never see 20s in MPGs, V1 seeing low-mid 20s is no problem. V1's not as nice a car as the V2, G8, or SS...but at half the price or less, hard to argue. V1 can be a reliable daily, V2 will be too, but not for as long...more moving parts to break. All these are good decisions, got to pick the best one for you but be realistic.

So I complain about the heat...a lot. But let me brag on my state for a sec.

This isn't a V update but a fishing update. Took off to Leeville/Port Fourchon(about 2.5 hours south) yesterday after lunch to hook up with an old fishing buddy of mine.

We arrived about 4PM. Mostly overcast and breezy, it was actually only about 80 degrees. Hit a rig about 15 minutes from the launch and had our limit of 30 snapper in the boat in about an hour. Came back in, boiled a pot of blue crab, stone claws, shrimp, corn, potatoes, etc. Ate like fat kids, slept in this morning. Didn't get out on the water until about 9:30, hit the SAME RIG, and we were back eating lunch at 11:30 with another 30 snapper. 60 snapper in under 3 hours of actual rod-in-hand time. And the sights were nice, too.

"Sportsman's Paradise" isn't just the tagline on the license plates. It's really true. This is what makes it worth the heat. And the hurricanes. And the albatross-like mosquitos. Oh, and the f!cking snake I came home to in my living room that my dogs had killed. Good times!
