Anybody up for the seat challenge?

Ehhh. Why spend as much money as a Recaro Pole Position and end up with a weight gain due to an air conditioning feature you can't use? Plus you've still gotta install a partial roll bar since there are no seatbelt mounts in the V1 pillars.

Therein lies the challenge.

There are female bolt holes behind the plastics. Just need to remove them for access.

Deep in my archives, I have pictures of V1s with custom seats. I've never liked how people have done it.
My plan (next 2-3 years) is to install a set of Recaro Sportster CS with the heating option. They're expensive ($5000 for a set), but they match the V1 and not as hard to get into/out of as the Pole Position. In total, a pair of Sportster CS seats weigh 90 lbs installed. The real challenge with the V1 is reinforcing the pillars and installing proper seatbelts. I will probably cobble something together that is a hybrid of the V2 and aftermarket components, for OEM height adjustability. The B-pillar trim panels in particular are going to suck.

A guy in the Facebook group just did that. Posted a full diy, including the pinouts to make it work.
They look pretty good in a V1.
I went another direction, and I really like my new interior far better. Removed 1.5" of foam from the seat base, and 1/2" from the seat back. Hugs me really nice in twisties now.
Also used medium density foam in place of the soft stuff. They are really comfy and the side bolsters work well no vs barely at best stock v

Yessir. I can now wear a helmet, comfortably with about an inch additional clearance. I'm 6'4.
It's also wayyyyy more comfortable with the medium density foam to soak up the red poly/12/14k springs and additional cradle brace I added.

Good to know, thanks. I'm just over 6'5" and I have to recline the seat more than I'd like to get my hair off the headliner. I'd love to sit a solid inch lower in the car.
I'll keep this in mind, would be great if I can update the lower foam and keep the factory cover. Would probably have to be trimmed so it fits properly.
