You can run LS3 block but you'd have to specify the different rings on the cam and crank. Otherwise I think it's identical.

I think the 07 ls2 s(cts-v) did have the 58t reluctor and 4x cam signal.

I think the only definitive way to tell which is what it by checking the crank position sensor above the starter. If it's black it's 24x and if it's grey it's 58x.

After installing the ATI 10% UD balancer, i ve decided it s time for a set of headers and a tune. Called up CSP, orderd a set of Kooks lt s. Gunna throw my 92mm fast intake on it before the headers n tune session. Stay tuned

Yes please. Been wanting to see someone do proper headers, tune, and FAST intake to see what it makes. I think you're hitting the optimum power to retain close to OEM reliability...good call. Bet you flirt real hard with 400 at the tire.

No cats over hi flow cats, maybe 5rwhp. Most aftermarket cats and the OEM have a merge/X, so no huge gain there. You should be at 370-380 wheel (on a DJ) with just the headers, CAI, and tune. Add that FAST and it should get interesting! Port the TB and the FAST and you'd be at 400 for sure. Make sure to change your fuel filter and those injectors while you're at it, if you haven't lately. As is, I'd be surprised if you don't hit 390 if your engine is healthy.

This would be the unicorn of all V1s IMHO...it would be the only one you could bolt an LS3 in and go. If they're out there, I've never heard of it...anyone ever seen and 58t V1?

My fast 92 is already ported, albeit a home port job from previous owner, time will tell if he did it right, lol. I ditched the cats for now because of the additional costs. Im still dumpn big $$$ into my turbo ed nova which is inching its way closer n closer to being done. Are the injectors maxed out <400rwhp? This ls2 is defly healthy, car has been well cared for last 10yrs with only 25k miles to boot.

I ll check for sure soon. For some reason, i thought most ls2 s were 58t 4x, and my Novas' ls2(06' gto) was actually the oddball 24x 1x. Now im curious too. I just gotta remember to see what color the crank sensor is and that should tell the whole story. Black or grey

Also, I THINK all the 06 and 07 cars are 58x, 04 and 05 24x. There may be some exceptions, but this is what is out there that I have seen.

the sad part is its something to do with our drive line outside the t56, the gto guys have hit the 400 mark without getting into the motor, we are not so lucky.

the 07s are indeed the 52x crank with the 4x cam on the front. i have had to change my cam sensor and its on the front above the crank. 06 was the change over if i remember right and some are and some are not.

*edit*
excerpt from super chevy, platform dependent.

"While bolting a cam into an LS engine is a simple routine, there are a couple of essential details that require attention. The original Gen III car and truck LS engines placed the cam sensor at the back of the block reading the 1x trigger located on the camshaft that was compatible with the stock 24x crank reluctor. With the evolution of the Gen IV LS2 in 2005, one change relocated the cam sensor to the timing chain cover. The cam gear also doubled as the cam sensor trigger wheel remaining a 1x for 2005. That evolved in 2006 when GM switched to a 58x crank reluctor, which demanded a 4x trigger for more resolution. Not all passenger car engines followed Corvette’s lead, however. For example, the 2006 GTO LS2 engines retained the original 24x crank reluctor and its 1x cam sensor partner."

It's a small difference, maybe 5%, but the difference in weight is less than that. GTOs and V1s are both pigs with similar curb weights IIRC. I'd attribute it to different driveshaft design and rear diff efficiency. I'd bet the biggest culprit is the damn dual mass flywheel. There is also just so much rubber in the V1 chassis and suspension, it creates energy (HP) leaks. Small differences pile up, not hard to get to 5-6% delta.

GTO seats are better than ours, by a lot. V1 has something GTO never will...2 extra doors.
