Default AUX audio input WORKS! No modulator

ALL,
After gathering the courage I installed an AUX input on the CTS-V today.

Here are the instructions:

I will warn those of you who are faint of heart, this does require you to cut and splice 3 wires (it took me 2 days to summon the courage to try this, but it works fine).

Also, you WILL still have the ability to use all of your accessories (XM, changer, etc).. BUt this does require that you have the XM module on the car (for those non Vs)
Total price is about $50-60.

I am not the best at writing instructions so those of you who read this and are confused, e-mail me and I will clarify. Its hard on this one because there are alot of options.

Thanks miscreant and PACaudio for helping on this one.

Hello ctsvett,

I'm a noob to the entire car-radio thing, so I apologize if my questions sound silly or dumb.

The link on the AUX input instructions (that you've posted) assumes that the CTS is equiped with the XM radio option. Do you know of another way to link in an AUX input in to a stock non-bose radio for the 2004 CTS?

If not, do you know how to remove the head-unit from the dashboard, so that I can at least "see" if any other options are possible?

Thanks,
John (kimwie)

PAC has just came out with a plug in adapter that will give you an aux in also. Just released last month. Don't have a part number though.

Thanks for your post, but I tried calling PAC for ANY part that is compatible with my 04' CTS (non-bose). Unfortunately, they have nothing that is compatible. I know people have posted ways to make the PAC GM12 work with a Factory XM unit, but not without it.

Do you know of anyone who as succesfully added an AUX input for my type of radio?

Thanks,
John
