About the CTS-V
Alright, Lets start w/ this, im new to these forums hehe
Recently I became a HUGE fan of the CTS-V models, i realize that there amazing cars and now im deciding to get one...I guess a big decision for a 17 year old haha anyways...I'm getting on this summer, a Black one, I can't wait, I've been hearing SO much about them and that there fully worth the 49,000+ they cost
But now i've got questions about it, seeing as this is a full CTS-V forums, i plan to mod the car just alittle bit, first off being putting a Supercharger or Twin turbo kit in it, Now, i want to hear everyones opinions on the matter, Should I just leave it bone stock? should i put Supercharger? whats the ups and downs of a Supercharger in this car? or should i get turbo, whats the ups and downs of that, let me know
I hope im gunna enjoy this car when i get it

Good for you. I purchased my 16 year old a new CTS-V last year and he loves it. My responsible hard working kid deserves this kind of car. When he gets a little older he can get something really nice.

Well, I would drive it for awhile before deciding on more power.
They are plenty fast stock, and with some bolt ons, will respond very well.
My advice, worry about the suspension, give it SOME extra power, and enjoy it!
Oh BTW, don't kill yourself, these cars can get away from you if you get cocky!!!

The sad part is peope really do spend cash on their kids like that. I've earned mine. And it will get away from you damn quick if your not careful. Maybe you should just get a scion instead.

I know the only reason that you gave your son that car is because you are sure that he is responsible enough and capable enough to handle that much horsepower and that much responsibility at only 16.
Since I am sure you did that and have the extra $$ to afford it...l
Good for you!

Well if you are really only 17 and getting one soon that is great.
How long have you been street driving and do you have a racing back ground growing up? These cars have decent power stock and go pretty good so if you don't have much experience driving powerful rear wheel drive cars I think you should get use to the power stock before doing a power adder. lol
Nothing agaist your age, for all I know you could have been racing since you were 6 years old. But if not, she is not your average civic.
If you know how to drive, I say mod her up big time and have some fun.
There are a couple supercharger kits out now I believe and they are working on more and turbo kits. Either one would be a great power adder, but I would start with the basic mods first.
CAI, Exhaust, wheel hop kit for the V, some tuning and that should put you into the 12's if you can row through the gears good.
Anyway, welcome to this forum and if you are for real let us know what you do..
Stangar,
It is nice to read you were joking, giving a 16 year old a V..
Well I would hope you would give that young child some driving school (racing school) classes first and give them a chance in life. Too many young kids in high performance vehicles with no Idea how to drive killing themselves. Drivers ed?? What a joke, I personally feel everyone that drives should take a real driving class, learn how to handle and respect a vehicle before they are let loose on the roadways.
Sorry for my rant, just way to many kids getting killed and killing others on the roads before they have any experience behind the wheel..

Yes, I am only 17, I'll be 18 in April...No this thread isnt a joke and Yes i am getting a brand new CTS-V end of june beginging of july
I hear what your saying, obviously i havent got much experiance driving ( or as much as most of the people on this forum) but i do go some, i know how to drive a car, and handel it well, im saying if i get this car im not gunna be like..YES IM 17..got an insanly quick car, lets race...i just want it becuae to me it wont get old quickly, for the most part i will just keep it stock, untill i realize i can handle more power. im not stupid at all when it comes to driving (Sounds weird for a 17 year old to say) but i dont want to be wrapped around a tree anytime soon
As for the scions...only comment i have twords that....is no
and...its not like my parents will be buying this whole car for me, I will be working for this car, I will be workin my *** off for it, It will be easier for me becuase i wont have to pay rent and stuff like that, or bills, but i will be working for my own car

I am glad to see you are a level headed young man.
It will make a great and fun car for you, and you shouldn't get bored with it to soon.
Good luck and don't be a stranger around here.

I don't think I'd put that much power in a 17 yr old
my daughter, who is only 12, is Corvette crazy, and says she wants to work as early as possibly, and get a little help from the old man, so she can target a Corvette. I told her she's crazy. If she's really, really, lucky, she might be able to afford something like a 10 year old BMW 3 series, or a 3-5 year old Civic.
She then says - well, I'll take your car then. You'll be ready for a new one in 4 years. I tell she may be right, but my car also has too much power for a 16 year old.

Any one that hands over a 400hp car to a 16 or 17 year old needs to have their head examined ! Buy him a 1995 Jetta with a 4 banger untill they get some road experiance. Too many neighbors where I live with one less in the family for doing the same thing. Its irresponsible. JMO....

I dunno, i've driven some powerful cars, some of my friends cars, i know there powerful and i know this well
when i get the car, I'm going to respect it, i believe that you gotta have very good respect for a car with a huge amount of power
and, I live in central florida as well ylwjacket
