Twin Turbo? Deal or No Deal

Twin Turbo? Deal or No Deal
I have plans on doing a twin turbo system on my V. I had HPP Racing give me a price. They are going to send my V to Houston and they said it will be gone 2-3 Months. They gave me a price of 7,500 which they said is a great deal since mine would be the first. What do you guys think? Should I go for it? Anyone have any kind of an idea what HP/TQ would be? I'm at 427/395 now with my current head and cam package. I guess I will need the Madman 9" while in Houston for the setup.

I would definately do it!!! I'm prolly gonna build myself a single turbo setup when I get back from Afghanistan in Jan / Feb 07.
$7500 for a custom kit w/ dual turbos installed doesn't seem like a bad price...2-3 months seems like an awful long time though.
What parts / stuff are they including? (turbo brand and size, bov, boost controller?, computer tuning included?)

That price is about right for a custom kit as long as it includes all tuning (WOT and part throttle) as well as any further tuning after delivery if any bugs come about. There should be no reason your V's streetablility would change with well tuned TT setup.
Ask them if you really need two turbos, with todays cam profiles and turbo knowledge, single turbos don't have the lag they once did.
You may also want to ask them if there is any way you could have an "overboost switch". All this does is dump a bunch of fuel at part throttle, say at the starting line, which will make the exhaust burn hotter, which will make the turbo spool up giving you instant boost. This isn't the best for the turbos but it can be used in those moments you find yourself up against something crazy fast.

screw the z06!!!
Do it, but ask what exactly is gonna go in that kit. Fuel? Tune? Which turbos, blowoff V., wastegates, type of tubing and coupling, etc.
Honestly, that isn't a bad price at all so if you can deal with a few months without a car, ge r' don!!
They can mount where the stock cats are like the twin kit from APS. I would like to do a single, 382ci setup.
Good luck!!

Maggie/cam/nitrous?...yeah, you could make power but,..the last thing you hopless V owners need, is more bottom end torque. Especially outta the hole.
Twin turbo's by the way, don't have much lag.
To the original poster...I'd say do it but,....I think it may take longer then what your told. I could be wrong, since i've seen complete turbo kits fabbed and built in a day but, sometimes SHOP LOADS can push larger projects like yours back a little.
Regardless of time, I'd save a few extra bucks(I know it isn't cheap) and buy a built short block. Something that can handle a good amount of boost. Not no 8 psi ****.....i'm talking 12+ everyday.
Let us know what your plans are man....it's about time some does this ****.

Ha...I think you need to drive one before you make such a comment. This car, a stock Z06, would walk any one of your BUILT cadillac's on the planet. From any speed.
The CTS-V is a great car, honestly. But, it is nowhere near the car that a vette is, let alone a Z06. The V, is possibly one of the coolest cars that GM has ever produced but, the car at speed, just doesn't seem at all stable, let alone high speed corners. Way too much body roll.
If you guys are trying to go fast, and don't need four doors,.....I highly recommend a vette.

I just bought my old 94 vette back tonight! It was a Black on Black with a hard top option. Bad news is the engine is overheating! It's an old tired LT1 with about 150K miles. Now the fun will start! First is a new engine! Then off to Stewarts for a new paint job. What Motor do you guys think I should drop in?
I know where I can pick up a Built 427 from an old vette! Will it fit?

I guess I'll sell my built 408 and stop working on my twin turbo setup. I'd hate to get walked by a stock Z06...especially from any speed!!!
