Question Nav Wont Work???

Im not sure whats going on with my nav but it just doesnt want to cooperate

Symptoms
1. Right when nav disc is inserted and I press nav or go throught the main screen it says "no map disc has been loaded"
2. If I wait about 5-10 seconds and I press nav or go throught the main screen it says "Disc Initializing" that stays on for about 10seconds and goes away, but nothing comes up and if i press nav again it says "No Map DVD inserted"
3. If I wait awhile like 15 minutes and I press nav or go throught the main screen it says "No Map DVD inserted"

Things that could be causing me problems...
1. Nav disc scratched.... Fixed the disc looks like its brand new
2. Nav disc isnt the one that came with the car. Maybe I need an update??
3. Took of the onstar antena.. dont think it has anything to do with the nav but you never know...

anybody ever had a problem with there nav like this
any help would be appreciated

i really just didnt want to have my car sitting at the dealer for a couple of days while they figure that out

Did the disc work before?

You alledge that it may not be the right one.

Post what info is printed on the disc.

2. Nav disc isnt the one that came with the car.
You sound a bit uncertain about this.....which is puzzling unless you just got the car and finally decided to try out the nav- in which case it makes sense.

Has it worked in the past?

I'd start out checking the cd drive...get a dvd and try to play it...if it does'nt play, then the drive maybe dirty/fubar'd ...other than that, post whats written on the nav if it hasn't worked before.

the nav disc is definetly not the original. I bought the car Used and I asked the dealer where the nav disc was at (it still had the case for it but no disc) and the guy told me that he would be able to get one for me. It is definetly a Cadillac Nav disc and it comes from a newer car apparently. By looking at the info on the cases it must come from an 05 or an 06 being the coprights are all in that range and the original that was in my car had copyrights of 02 and 03.

The nav dvd's are not compatible accross the Cad platforms (thanks to the intern GM hired) so the CTS and the V share the same disc, but the others won't work.

PM me your address and I will send you a nav dvd to try.

I guess ill have to go tell the dealer so he can get me a new one.... the salesmen I dealt with is pretty good and has a very good rep at one of the most respected dealers in the area so... im sure that they will take care of me...

I had also been looking on the faq's site and was looking at the Nav disc DVD structure and I noticed that it doesnt have one file, and its the loading.kwi so i figure thats the real problem and the reason most other gm disc dont work in the cts

my nav disk stopped working too. maybe because it's too scratched. any ideas on how to fix it? can copies be made of the disk with a dvd ripper on a computer?
