Those people stating they run 11's @ 120mph in bone stock E55's are of the shifty-eyed contingent. You can't trust 'em. No way, no how. Some of these people probably think drag slicks still make the car stock. As long as we're bench racing though, there isn't a car magazine on the planet that shows an E55 running these 1/4 trap speeds.
First of, I made a mistake on the 120 MPH comment, I was thinking of a friend who has mods and runs 122-124 consistently in the 1/4-his is modded, but you cannot tell by glancing at the motor.

Your comment regarding 'shifty-eyed contingent' is an attack without facts. Much of this thread is allegations, very few facts or real life accounts. Here is a timeslip for which I know the owner, he is extremely credible, have seen him run his E55 at the track, and has an 11.6sec slip posted after mods were done:
http://www.dragtimes.com/Mercedes-Be...slip-7808.html

You are correct, bench racing is boring, go out and beat an E55 and post the slips. I have owned my V for 31 months, and have watched both Caddy boards, and cannot recall any account of a Maggied V beating an E55. To the contrary, I have heard many V owners speak impressively about the E55. I do not think articles or claims made by Auto Mags are more accurate than owner's timeslips, but if you do, that's your choice.

They did have a factory freak SL600 that ran high 11's but no 55 cars or 63 cars have ran those times stock.

Here are a few videos of E55s in action:

In this one, the Z06 pulls a car length from a roll and maintains it, not sure of the mods on each car (Z06 looks like it has a modded exhaust for starters), so do not over-analyze:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8adFP...elated&search=

Here is another video from the strip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0asbMTv8zFs
I believe a Stage One mod for the E55 is programming and a pulley swap.

View these in the right context, I own a V, not an E55, but respect the E55 and do not think it can be beat by a Maggie V every time they meet. We can get more horses once the Maggie goes on, but putting the power to the ground is tough, and the automatic tranny does not err.

Enjoy the vids.

OneBadCad,

I don't think anybody is saying the E55 is not a force unto it's own. It is absolutely the monster you keep saying it is and, when modified, are scary fast. This is without question. But, most of us are trying to determine whether or not a STOCK E55 and a Maggied V are good matches. All of your samples about how fast a STOCK E55 refer to timeslips and friends with MODIFIED E55 cars...so we're talking about 2 different animals and that's not the subject of this thread.

And...I only referred to auto mags b/c you keep referring to internet drag times. We both know that neither source is 100% accurate, dependable or real-world reproducable.

Enough has been said, and in the end it means nothing. Someone needs to post after they race an E55. I would do it, but my V is retired from racing until it gets a built rear-end and a new Clutch/Flywheel set-up. Good luck whomever takes the challenge. By the way, verifying if the E55 is stock is difficult, as stated in earlier post.

There are plenty of V's on here that CAN run that kind of speed. It's just that nobody has the rear end to do it yet...that I know of.

I'm planning on hitting an 11.50 with my new setup - even with the soft launch. But that's a far cry from a high 10. We'll find out next Wednesday.

thats pretty much what i meant... as in on the track getting a launch to get in the 10's... i guess parker is the only one with a good enough rear to knock down those times???

Don't fall into the trap that the V's rear-end is breakable only during the launch. I know of some that have grenaded on hard shifts.

Default Bmw 650

I'll let you all know if and when I come up against another E55. Like I said I see them everyday but since I rarely drive the V a real encounter is a rare occurance. I wasn't trying to bench race I was just curious if I could have hung had I not been playing with the radio.

On another note, I did come across a BMW 650 at a light last night. He revved a few times, so I was ready this time. I had him off the line but he stayed pretty close (car length) until 50 or so. On paper I should have done better but I'm still chalking it up as a decent kill seeings as how its my first win against something with more than 4cylinders.

Those 650's are 5.0-5.2 0-60 cars so with 367 hp they are no slouches!

Haha yea I was totally kidding, I wouldnt put any money into the thing because it is rediculously slow as it is. As for the quality, its nice and the awd is awesome, or at least thats what my GF says as I never drive it due to the fact that im too big for it (6'8 260 pounds). I havent had any issue with mine though and I have to say that bang for the buck there arent many cars that compete with it. I looked at the new audi a4's and the bmw 325/330 xi and both were WAY overpriced for what you got. Although it is a Ford at heart it really is a comfy car and very reliable. Id much rathe rhave a cts-v though...
