Default '05 CTS-V Shift **** Removal

Anybody have any good ideas of how to get the shift **** off. I've pulled on this mf'er until my shoulders hurt. I've read where you put it in either 2nd or reverse and pull straight up. No movement. The dealer says to pull up while in 2nd, I would think they have a tool or something to get these things off?

putting it in 2nd is it, I found that out while drag racing when I shifted a bit too hard.....but for me I pull back and up at the same time (VERY HARD) and it'll pop right off....just a work of advice, pull the boot off first, like separate it from the center console....

What nikon said.

When that sucker finally lets go, just be sure you don't punch a hole right through the sunroof.

Default Shift **** Removal

Grit teeth and pull hard (shifter in 2nd or 4th).

One tech that I talked to said that he also put his shop coat over his arm to keep from damaging the car and/or bruising his hand when the **** finally lets go.

Ditto on the shift boot removal!
