Default When Do YOU Shift ????

When doing your normal, everyday driving (not racing around or showing off) where do you find yourself shifting through the lower gears, on average?

Never make it to 2K RPMs even when shifting 2-4-6. Gets great gas mileage!

I hate good gas milage! lol I shift at 3500 to 4k every time. I hate people that pull out on the freakin highway and go 20mph for the first mile. Then 30 for the next and then 40 for the next. I HATE IT!!!! Just get up to the freakin speed limit and stay there! Its not hard!!!

With no torque management, courtesy of HPTuners, it still will not get run over. My C5 I can shift each gear @ 1,000 RPMs. Usually 1500 so I don't have anyone on my bumper!

Same with me. If you guys wanted to drive your car like Grandparents, why didn't you buy a DTS?

Not flaming anybody, but how does anyone driving a "V" shift around 1500, especially when going 1-2-3? I consider myself a relatively conservative driver unless I'm challenged, and in everday driving I'll shift a shade under 4K, and that's with not even trying! If one is shifting around 1500 I can understand where the "clunk" comes from!

I shift at 2K in my 2000 camaro when going to work and putting around. When I get on a back road or lined up against someone I shift that bitch at 6800. Other than the racing and back road pulls I baby the car as much as possible.

You are correct especially in 1st. It's 1500rpm for every 10mph in 1st. I only use it when I want to stand on it. Otherwise, I go 2-3-5 in town (35mph)which works very well. It's like a totally different car starting out in 2nd and the 3.73's make that very easy. I didn't buy this car for mileage either but my company buys my gas so I try to stretch it a little.

99% of the time, tooling around town, 1-4-5...2000 max...plenty of torque makes it easy.

Maybe its just the way I drive, but it seems to shift the smoothest at around 3k (or more). If I try to shift at <2k it always seems to buck me. HEHE.

This is a little off-topic, but does premium gas get better gas mileage than mid-grade? My wife always puts mid-grade in it, and now she put in premium and we're gonna calculate the diff in MPG. We dont "get on it" much -- so the loss of power isnt a huge concern using mid-grade.
