I don't think you should go with the 1 7/8" unless you plan on upping your displacement.

i just put two cut-outs where the pipes bend behind the diff...gives you the option to plug it up later if need be...cost me about $60...i plan on getting rid of the resonator at some point with an x-pipe

I had my exhaust shop, take out the stock resonater, install a magnaflow x-pipe and then replace the stock mufflers with some magnaflow bullets.
