Muffler Deletion

So, I'm not really willing to spend the $1,200-1,500 on a complete bolt on exhaust. I was thinking about just cutting off the mufflers and welding on a set of nice black chrome tips. My little brother had a Z-28 with an SLP loud mouth exhaust that sounded bad *** hell, I'm looking to Replicate that sound. Anybody done this? Is it legal in cali? How does it sound? Any clips or pics?
She's a mean looking bitch, murdered out/silver. Anybody pulled their badges off the car, will they come off by using a hair dryer?

Chech out www.Cadillacfaq.com, I think they have instructions there on removing the badging. I know others on the cadillac forum have just replaced the mufflers and were happy with the sound. I have the Corsa system and I love it. Quiet at idle, nice and deep sound at WOT. You can also replace the factory resonator with an X-pipe, but you might get a little drone that way... Check out youtube for some clips of different exhaust setups.
