2009 Cts-v oil pressure concern
Hello, I am new to the forum not sure if I am posting in the right area. I have a 2009 ctsv 80k miles. And I am seeing oil pressure on idle around 15psi goes to 18psi at best. It goes up to 30+ psi after 2500rpm.. Should I be concerned and thinking of sticking an oil pump in it or do you think it will be fine. Car has a cam, and currently running 5w30 amsoil also in Florida where it is hot all the time. Lol any feedback is appreciated thanks Adrian.

Sounds like you might need a new pump. Have you cut open the filter to check for any metals or done an oil analysis? Did you change oil pumps when you changed the cam? Hot idle pressure should be in that 30-40 psi range. My personal CTS-V will see 35-38PSI at hot idle.

Definitely cut open your oil filter and check for metal. I was at 18psi hot idle when I checked and found metal in the filter. I had the motor pulled and flushed the engine, had the crank polished, new bearings and pump all for about $3k If you wait it could be a lot more!

15psi is def low at idle....Has the pressure always been low since the cam swap? when the cam was changed do you know if they changed the oil pump? If so, its possible they installed the wrong pump. I believe the LSA uses a high volume pump different from most NA LS due to the piston oil squirters...just a thought
