Fuel pump sending unit problem

Ok, so I'm replacing both pumps, and this brittle little bit broke.

Is there an aftermarket solution? The dealer wants $2500 for the sending unit. Summit has it for about half that much.

I can't really even tell what that bit does. Is it a pressure reference? Has anyone bothered to repair/re-engineer this bit?

Just wanted to get some advice before dropping bucks on tiny brittle plastics.
