i got pulled over for not having a front plate after about 6 months of having it off. i got the slp front plate that let the grille be shown without being interfered by the front plate.

I've successfully fought, and lost a few of these.
The highway traffic act states you MUST have a front plate. If you don't have one period you may be fine for three years (like I). Then one week you'll get three.
The law gets muddy when you place your plate on your car which is not the traditional place, ie dash or plastic air dam on the bottom of the car (don't bend your plate that is illegal as well). Technically (and you can fight this and set precedent) the dash is the "front" of the car.
Good luck. Its probably not worth your time.

If you want hassles go for it but you will get hassled be certain of that.
I think it is ridiculous that we require a front plate. Probably has more to do with trucks using the lic sticker on the front plate so this way it doesn't confuse the oh so sharp traffic cops.
Contact local politician and voice opinion. Rally support. Fight for years. Maybe.... maybe... when the cows come home will this dumb law get changed.

You will get hassled, and most likely charged. Is it worth it? Only you can decided that, but if you get caught more than once and your name is already in the system for doing it once, well, just hope the cop, the crown and the JP are not ******.

I haven't had one on the front of my pickup truck for over a year now. The mounting bracket got broken on the construction site and the plate has been sitting on the floor ever since. Cop mentioned it once when he was standing on the side of a turn lane watching for seat belts. The truck is black plated too so the sticker is on the front plate (it's current). I hate front plates myself.

I live in Alberta, so I don't have to worry about it.
I too agree that its a dumbass law...
What is the 'official' reasoning behind having one on the front anyways??

I'm in Ontario, and don't run a front plates. I have not had an issue with it yet, but then again i'm not asking to get pulled over...It's up to you, but the first time you generally get a warning. As long as you don't get the same cop the second time, you should be okay
