.035 to .045 depending on the combination for me. On motor that is.

The people have spoken, sticky it is.

I finally got around to programming my 6010 I have not WOT the car yet but it definitly idles better with 15* timing for cranking and idling. I didnt even have to adjust the idle on the carb. We will see how it does with timing on the dyno when I let her eat.

Keep in mind, carb motors love initial timing.

keep it low while cranking but feed it timing while idling. 15* would be the minimum in my opinion.

Ok, where should I start with my timing? I know every application is different. Just trying to get a general idea.
6.0 with 243 heads, comp LSR281 231/239 at .050 617, .624 lift on a 110 LSA. 3600 lbs chevelle with a 3.73, 4l60e trans and a 770 holley. edelbrock dual plane. I do have the map hooked up. But don't think I'll use it. This is a 100% street car. Prob never see the track.

It's been said over and over in this thread.

Westtex26- no sh-t?? Really? Lol I was hoping to find somebody that has a similar combination. I understand it's a matter of test and tune. Nobody yet on here has a comp LSR style cam. Was just seeing what timing people were running with this cam. That ok with you?

OK, no motor yet but playing in the MSD settings getting the feel of things......

After reading this I'm figuring on running without the MAP so it'll be like running a distributer locked out....if I understand all this

I have it at 0* shooting straight up to 35* (all-in) by 2000rpm. This gives me about 16* at an projected idle of 7-800.....or is this too high of an idle ? My Silverado idles at 500ish.

Wow, that's alot of info to absorb. I can just about build an engine, build and tune a Holley carb like nobody's business, can rebuild, repair or replace just about anything on an automobile, but I can just never figure out timing curves.

At least I have some baselines to start with. I still have to change the rearend from the 3.07 to a 4.11 before I can get a final tune, but at least I can get it close.

not true.....I'm running an LSr cam....223/231@.050 - .610/.617 - 112.

just remember....with or w/o a MAP sensor...whatever is in that table is what you'll get. If you want no vacuum advance...zero out the MAP table.

Just got mine running and would like to add a MAP sensor to take full advantage of the box. Anyone know what sensor, maybe a part # I need to get.

Right now I have the REV table set at:

0-600.........15
600-1000....15 ramped to 22
1000-3000.....22 ramped to 30 flat across

if you go over 14.7 psi of boost on a 1 bar sensor what will the 6010 box do?

Does anyone have the pink 12v wire powered by a relay? Mine is just thru a toggle right now and it cranks fine when cold, but after it runs a while and is shut off, it has a hard time cranking. Spins over fine, just won't fire.

I see a lot of guys with the same timing at say 5000 as they do at 7000. Most of the bracket racers I know pull some timing out at the the higher rpms to help richen the air to fuel mixture and a couple other reasons (that arent coming to me right now). It is usually worth a few numbers. Anyone have any reason this wouldnt be the case with an LS combo?

Hey guys, first post here. Definitely a lot to absorb in this thread!!

I just picked up a crate LS3/515 with the carbed intake to go into my 67 LeMans project and have been looking all over for timing curves to use so this thread is great. I was originally planning to start with the little modules that MSD provides but after reading this thread they seem to have a really conservative timing curve.

I'm planning to use a MAP sensor and factor in some vacuum advance too so the chart on page 5 was nice to understand how to plot that.

Any timing recommendations for this motor? Cam is 226/236 with 10.7:1 compression. I found a post with someone running a similar cam but only 9.5:1 compression. Will be running a T-56 trans.

I am running a very similar carbed engine to yours.. Do not use the pills, could not get it running at all well there.. I also have the map.. As stated earlier the engine loves timing.. I have at least 8 to 10 cranking.. then around 30 at 2000 or 2500.. be conservative of course in the beginning.. Have not touched mine in more than a year and runs great..

A year? That's great encouragement for me on my build... Lol how's the gas mileage? And what carb/intake would you recommend on basically stock 2004 5.3 mild cam? And what's best 6010? Is harness that comes with it long enough or is that harness seperate?
