not everyone needs a 7000+ redline, 5500 is fine for a cruiser street type build. it works fine, ive used it before. works well for what it is.
above 5500rpm means nothing to some one who is just want ls upgrade in there vehicle. thats what it was intended for. simple

I don't understand your logic. GM rates their LS3 crate motors as capable of 6600 RPM. Why give up 1000 RPM?

Buying the edlebrock box is absolutely pointless. It is an MSD box that has had a key feature removed. You can program an MSD box with the same pills as the edlebrock. The edlebrock box offers absolutely nothing, it is not any easier to use, it is just less capable. It costs as much as the MSD but will have half the resale value.

The only reason I can see for buying one is if you get a killer deal or if you simply don't know any better.

But to each his own.

What he is saying is that it is good for those doing a 5.3 or 4.8 into their older ride, stock everything but carbed wit headers, the Edelbrock unit works great for that application.

450 crank hp is attainable. id bore it to 99mm (ls1 bore) get a set of pistons to make compression around 10.5-11, stock rods with upgraded bolts, stock crank. 2.5 5.3 heads should work fine, for a cam thats all up to you. id say use a 220-230 range camshaft. and your choice of intake. fast 90's are going for good prices these days. just my 0.02

not unless you run a holly sniper nitrous kit pushing 150 shot with a dual plane intake manifold and respectable carburetor

I wasn't being snarky, sorry if it looked that way. However, the post dates are pretty obvious, and it appeared you were addressing the OP of this thread. He hasn't been here in years either.
As far as "being kind" is concerned, you were less than so in your comment to the one you quoted. It did not appear you were curious about what was being done with 5.3's.
