Default New best!!!

Update: 11.39 @ 120.4 today!! w/ a 1.68 60ft. had a 1.60 60ft on another run but missed a gear...
changes: - stiffer rear shocks
- make solid rods to replace rubber peices in slide-a-links
- 5 turns out of the clutch
- 37* total timing(dips to 35* at torque peak-5K)
next move is ET street Bias 28 x 11.5, I should have bought theese instead of the drag radials for my stick car.

Great times man! How tall are your drag radials? Will the 28's be taller?

The reason I ask is because I switched from 26's to 27's (both bias plys) on my heads and cam six-speed 99 Trans Am and the loss of gear really killed it. The car has 4.10 gears and I launch it at 4500 rpm. With the 26's it would 60' 1.65's an run consistent 11.50's. With the 27's (same launch RPM) it 60's high 1.7's and runs 11.8's. I also lost an average of 2mph. Granted, I could have recovered some of this with a higher launch.

You'll definately be happier with the bias ply tires (I couldn't hook my M6 car on drag radials; looks like you're hooking good) but I just wanted to share my experience so you don't regret your new tires too. If your new tires are taller than your current ones, you can expect to have to dump it a lot higher and still may lose some.

Nevermind ^^^^I just saw your thread in the Conversions sections and it looks like your drag radials are already 28s (275/60's) and you're running 4.56's, so you should be good to go. I figured with my TA that 4.30's would be great for 27's and 4.56's would be great for 28's. Looks like you're all over it! Keep us updated as you get quicker!

BTW, what RPM are you launching at?

On my 11.39 @ 120 run the 1/8th was 7.327 @ 96.16, 1.68 60ft
on my 11.40 @ 119.7 run the 1/8th was 7.30 @ 95.34, 1.60 60ft

Best run was with 4200 launch. not an easy task without the line limiter hooked up. that is one of my priority's for next season.
more rpm would blow away the tires, less would drag the motor down a bit and slow 60 ft.
