Default 67 camaro LY6 carb conversion - E.T.'s inside

Finally got some track times for my LY6 install into my camaro, so its time to show a few pics of the car and install.
LY6 vvt eliminated, otherwise stock internals including cam. vic jr 850 mighty demon carb, Edelbrock 1 3/4" step to 1 7/8" headers( I had to modify #5 tube to fit mech clutch linkage). TKO600 trans, RAM single iron adjustable drag clutch, 4.10 gears, 275/60 BFG drag radials.

Sunday at Gimli Dragways in Manitoba: 12.59at 108 best(1.75 60ft), and 12.74 at 109, with a string of other runs below 13.50 Not bad for a stock engine! I`m impressed! Best I was ever able to get the 10.5:1 461" solid cam BBC to run was 12.02 at 115. I am pretty certain I will be able to better that time once I toss in the 227/235 at .050 comp cam into the 6.0
All runs done on the drag radials, couldnt leave very hard with them because they would spin. Best 60ft was 1.75, with a bunch of 1.85`s and slower. Some 28/ 11.5 ET street Bias tires should allow a good holeshot.
TKO shifted great, I was worried I wouldnt be able to shift it very fast, but it worked well. RAM iron clutch is AWESOME - It allowed me to slip it a bit out of the hole and get the little drag radials to hook. This style clutch is THE ONLY way to go for a street strip car, that you want to work right at the track.
Anyway, long post, but the point here is: I couldnt be Happier with the little 364, so let the LS tweaking begin
Barrett

Wow, that is an awesome ET. I suspected 12s were posible with a stock LY6, 12.59? Incredible! What does that Camaro weigh?

When you say stock cam, are you talking about the original LY6 cam or something off an LS2?

original LY6 cam, I just used a non vvt single bolt top cam gear to eliminate the vvt, and a non vvt front cover off the same wreaker engine I got the top gear - it was a gen IV 5.3.
I dont know what it weigh`s, but I`ll get it weighed soon

Couple questions........ What engine mounts did you end up with? Any alignment or fitment issues w/ the mech. linkage? What did you use for the clutch pivot ball mount?

I used transdapt 1"setback plates and mounts, I cut 1 3/4" off the bottom of the LY6 pan. engine is tight to the firewall, and VERY close to the crossmember. I shimmed it up 1/8" to clear the crossmember. My TKO is raised as high as I could get it and the driveline angles are still not perfect(more work to do).
#5 header tube had to be modified to clear the mechanical clutch linkage. I welded a tab to the scattersheild to mount the pivot ball.

Thumbs up

Update: new best!!! 11.68 @119, with a best mph of 121.79 on another run.
I have installed 4.56 gears, 295/55 M/T drag radials, and a comp 227/235 114+4 cam, all else the same.
I am WAY impressed with this little LS motor. ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS on removing the 454 and going to this motor!
ps I weighed the car: 3234 +190 for me

60 ft's sucked azz. 1.72's, with a 1.66 on a run I aborted. I had too much clutch in it, and it would spin about 2-3 ft then bog down a little bit as the tires hooked up. I need to take about 2-3 turns out of it.
on my 8th pass I tore the drivers side motor mount completely apart. guess I should have strapped that side - I know better than that

Alternator is mounted down low on drivers side with a custom braket I made. Its not too pretty so I didnt photo it. it has about 1/4" of clearence to the frame.

Update: 11.39 @ 120.4 today!! w/ a 1.68 60ft. had a 1.60 60ft on another run but missed a gear...
changes: - stiffer rear shocks
- make solid rods to replace rubber peices in slide-a-links
- 5 turns out of the clutch
- 37* total timing(dips to 35* at torque peak-5K)
next move is ET street Bias 28 x 11.5, I should have bought theese instead of the drag radials for my stick car.

nice times I bet that it is a fun little car, how do you like the cam? Still drive it at all on the street? If so how are the street manners?

I am impressed with this build.

I'd like to do a fox body conversion with a similiar combo.

A few questions:

What rpm across the stripe in the 1/4?
What rpm cruising?
Finally, have you calculated fuel economy?
