Default l76 to carb questions

I picked up a l76 the other day with a little cylinder damage but nothing bad at all. I have a few questions about this engine. The bore is 3.988 not 4.00 like most 6.0s. If I was to go .030 over what would be the best set of pistons to buy? perforable forged. and what would the final bore be? 4.030 or 4.018? One of the heads have a little damage but should be able to mill .020 to clean them up. Also to delete the vvt do I just get an LS2 cam sprocket and ls2 timing cover with the cam sensor up front? And as far as DOD I should be good with ls7 lifters and trays and LS2 valley cover? This will be going into a 92 rcsb with a carburetor. So I want to make this as simple as possible. any helps appreciated.

I post on PT.net mostly but saw this new carb section and figured that you all might be able to help me a little more. thanks

I am still not familiar with the DOD, but the rest is straight forward, just have the engine go to 4.00 and get STD 4 inch forged slugs. Mahle is about the best really, they are nice pieces and come with nice ring sets. The rest of the LS2 parts will probably work right, assuming you have the newer crank wheel, the 6010 box will just need the cam sensor for the proper year.

Can't give you answers to a lot of your questions, but about the DOD, maybe this. In the search box above, type in DOD delete and I think you will find a lot of useful information.

Im sorry I forgot to mention on of the cylinders has some scaring that needs to be honed out. Im not sure if by just going to 4.00 if it will be cleaned up enough. Its nothing bad but I figured I would just get some .030 over pistons and tell the machine shop to match it up. I will look into the mahles. Iv heard good things about them before.

It has the 58 tooth reluctor so the 6010 will be what I need right? As for intakes I have done my research and Im assuming everyone on here would agree with the l92/l76 victor jr? I wanted to go GMPP but if the victor jr works better thats what I will get.

Scarring would have the be pretty bad not to clean up at 4 inches. Otherwise, go 4.020 if you can, but 4.030 will be just as good.

Mahle is the **** though.

I will try to just go to 4in if it can be done. like I said the scaring is not bad. Sounds like Mahle is what I will go with? After getting the block fixed and a new set of pistons and rings what is my next step? Do I need to do anything to the crank or rods? Or just replace the pistons on the rods and start reassembling? With all new bolts of course. This is my first LS "build" from block up and just want to do it right.

new cam/main/rod bearings? What brand is best and where to get them.

Well, you can have the rods checked and get ARP bolts, otherwise, a set of scat rods would basically make a bulletproof bottom end.

What are these? this is a gen 4 conversion kit from scoggin dickey. Do I need these to run a carb? I noticed that the cnc machined valley covers being sold here dont have these.
