Default Identify This Carburetor

Can anyone ID this carb? The guy I got it from said it's a 750 Double-Pumper. The body looks like a Holley D-P, but I am not sure of the CFM.

Scratch that. I made a phone call and figured it out. It's a 750cfm vacuum secondary single-pump.

That is correct. Decent carb, i used to run them, still have one left that i am not sure if i want to sell or not, but it is a factory beast, has down leg boosters and secondary rear metering block.

Well I'm putting it on a 396, pretty stock minus some pop-up pistons (9.5:1) and ported oval port heads. I shouldn't need anything more than this carb. Thanks for the feedback!

Those air bleeds look nasty, overall the carb looks to be dirty, buy one of those gallons of carb cleaner in a paint gallon container at the parts store and start soaking stuff. Remove all the rubber pieces ahead of time so they don't get screwed up. Buy a complete carb rebuild kit...a holley preferably, the generic ones are junk in comparison.

Have you ever tried anything other than Holley? I havent, always went with the OE stuff and only had issues with bowl gaskets being shrunk a couple times for some reason, otherwise, god **** for 40$ for a whole kit with stuff left over.

I would find another carburetor. The problem is this carburetor does't have secondary metering blocks, and it has straight boosters. You can probably find a better carburetor on craigslist pretty easy.

Holley has their numerical listings on line

http://www.holley.com/data/TechServi...%20Listing.pdf

That carb looks like it needs a sand blaster instead of carb cleaner.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Since I am new to carbs, I plan on cleaning this one up and using it just until I get the car up and running. Then, I will be constantly upgrading parts as I acquire them. The throttle on this carb was kinda sticky, so I used some WD40 on it and now it's really fast and smooth. I think the vacuum controls the other two barrels of the carb, since only the forward two barrels open when I actuate the throttle.

Correct, they come open during load when the RPM goes up, there are spring kits that can be used to adjust when the secondaries come open. You shoul dprobably rebuild the whole carb and get a new secondary diaphragm.

I was looking at some rebuild kits on ebay, looks like $40 or so will cover me. The kit comes with new diaphragm for the secondary.

By the time you switch all those parts, you might as well get a DP.

I'm sure I will eventually go dual pump, but for now this will get the car on the road! I have a lot of other parts I have to spend my money on before I worry about a better carb.

Exactly, that will work just fine for you as a temporary setup.
