Depends on the cubes and cam, a 650-750 are nominal for a street car that hits the track from time to time, but if the life of the engine will be in the upper end and hardly see the street a 8650 or larger is the way to go. Then, depending on your budget you can decide to go with the cheap, home built, out of the box popular or the pro, top of the line expensive carbs.

950 HP ultras work very well on the lsx engines out the box. Once you approach a "real" 700hp the 4150 even a large venturi one will start to limit things at this stage switch to a dominator unless u like playing with plenum volumes and stacking spacers. Remember a 950 is only 830cfm. A 750cfm is capable of 600-630hp. Smaller carbs respond better with jetting(on a bigger engine), the bigger dominators sometimes need a bigger change in jet to see a difference in afr because of the slow air speed thru the booster.

Very well put. I just got finished out powering and out mileaging a nicely set up TPI on a Gen 1 sbc. pulled it all of and put on some old school parts that I built and the guy is thrilled. Anybody wanna buy a nice,,complete TPI system for a 355 sbc??
