Default What's all involved in building a carbed la engine?

I've been reading and searching and can't seem to find the answers to building a carbed ls engine.
I got a hold of a low milaged 6.0 and like the idea of new and old school.
My ? Is what all wiring would need to be involved in running the 6.0 with a carb? Will injectors not be needed?
I'm looking for a budget build of a 6.0 lq4 with 317s heads, but no sure what cam I can go without pushing the stock springs. I'm not looking for a high hp engine, but a daily cruiser and weekend ride.

There is not much involved, a intake swap, carb and fuel system and the ingition controller, which is 310-340 depending what year your engine is.

You swap the intake with new gaskets, use swap plates or any other mounts to allow use of the LS series engine in your ride and the ignition box hooks up to a 12 volt keyed source, a good ground and a tach output for your reading of RPM.

Otherwise, you use the provided chips or hook it to a lap top and tune away. Very simple. Then, the cam and whatever else you want isup to you.

So no coils or u2 sensors ecu nothing is required? I want to go carbed. Also what about the msd box? I read the msd 6010 is the way to go. Engine is an 01 6.0L with 317 heads.

no coils or o2 needed. make sure you get the msd box that is sold separate from the kit box. the edelbrock kit msd box is not programmable.

So pretty much list parts would be as followed
6.0 lq4 engine----750
Victor intake------275
Carb---------------500
Msd prmble 6010-350
I have headers and mOunts that will go in my s10 already
And the th350 and crank spacer if needed.
So 1750 give 250 for extras. 2k. Still in my budget. Nice

No "special" coils, but you will need eight factory ignition coils if they do not come with your engine...

Was wondering where the spark was gonna come from. Luckily I got and extra set Latin around. Anyone have a schematic wiring for any of this?

MSD box comes with the harness. All the connectors are keyed so you can't hook it up wrong. Like said above, just plug everything in and it should start when you turn the key.

Tuning is super easy also. The box lets you adjust the rev limiter and lets you trigger a timing retard if you run nitrous.

you need to use a laptop to remove the 5500 built in rev limiter, and create a timing table, pretty easy to do

Very easy. My only bitch was after buying the MSD ignition system, the cable for hook up is a seial port, i have not seen a serial port on a lap top in ages, so you do however have to buy a serial port adapter, i got one from best buy for 30$ i think.

Yeah, can't figure out why MSD still uses a serial port. They should go USB or better yet, something wireless like zigby or even bluetooth. That way we could use a cell phone app to program it and watch the read out in real time. That would be cool.

BTW, I got a serial to USB adapter on amazon for $9. Works perfectly.
