Default MSD question....

If I went to a LS motor and a carb... I know I need the MSD box.
Does it come with the wiring or is that seperate ?
What is needed to make it run (electronics wise) Just the MSD plug and play ?

What is needed and has to be done to remove the VVT ?

Anything else I'm missing ????

MSD box comes with all the wiring it needs. as for choosing a 6010, or 6012, it depends on which engine you end up with, 24x, or 58x crank sensor.
all you need to make it run is a GOOD 12v source to the MSD, GOOD ground for the MSD, and connect your starter as normal. if you use an alternator from the LS you need to add a resistor in the 12v excite wire to keep from burning it up.
To remove VVT, simply remove front cover, top timing gear(phazer)
replace with LS2 front cover, and new top cam gear(either 1 or 3 bolt depending on cam).
re install front timing sensor into new cover.

I guess leaving the VVT in would be a bad thing ?

Not a bad thing, you just need a way to control it. some have said it can be done with an injector driver.
I dont see why you couldnt do it with a window switch to determine what revs to advance phaser, and to retard it. Limiters would need to be put in to the phaser to mechanically limit total advance and retard. If I had more money, I'd try it myself........... Its just easier to eliminate it if your looking to get aggressive with the engine.

Im doing the same but for a LT1. I was wondering if I could use the MSD 83811 distributor with the MSD ignition box. Because my ECU wont be controlling the timing. Im just going to have it hooked up for power windows, wipers, etc. Can someone PLEASE give me a answer on this?
