6010 rev limit Please correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that the 6010 has a rev limit setting??
Does anyone know the setting from MSD??

Yes it has a rev limit. Mine was 5500 form factory. It is very easy to set. It is on the right hand side when you hook the box to your computer. In the white colums. Says rev limiter and you just hit the drop down button and select what speed you want. Think it goes to 12500 rpm. Have mine set at 5000 to keep self from doing something i ought to not to.
Mine was at 5500 also, i set it to 6500, then 6800, then 7100, then 7200 as i was tuning and getting it where it wants to be. At 5500, with a cam, the party is just getting started.

Yup it's 5500. When I switched to the 6010 I took the car out for a "test drive" and almost went through the windshield when it hit the limiter. I immediately went back, set it to 7500 and had a huge smile on my face after the second "test drive"

Bringing this up again to ask if the stock msd rev limiter exists if you have one of their curve chips in.?
Ours seem to crap out at pretty low revs but we were using one of the curve chips.
Most of the curve chips say they will add advance to 6100 RPM or above, but I am wondering if the MSD box itself has a limiter in it. We haven't hooked up to a laptop and don't want to.

Or do you know if the curve chip has a higher rev limit or the 5500 limit.?
We are trying to figure out why our street stock oval track was crapping out. We had one of the chips in.

Unfortunately our track just allowed the use of LS engines in street stock and one of the rules is they only allow the MSD boxes with a chip. No custom tunes.
I know I know it is nuts and really easy for people to cheat on that (just boot up without the chip and then stick it in). But the traditionalists think that these LS motors are black magic and this was the only way to get them in. What is happening in this class is that people are spending $7,500 on blueprinted small block chevies that are technically "stock". So they are allowing junkyard LS motors welded shut so they can't be modified. Hopefully it will make the class more affordable to run in.

Just read the directions again to make sure. And while it doesn't specifically say. It appears that the chips only affect the timing. All the rpm settings still need to be set with the laptop. If you spraying it, the retard will have to be set as well, being the default on it is 10 degrees. Also it looks like you may have to run a map sensor if you want to take advantage of that feature. Msd told me that if you don't plug in a map sensor that it does not affect the timing. That's if you don't want to run one. The map curve is the same in all the chips.
If you aren't running a MAP than zero out the MAP table. My suggestion is run a MAP.
