Thanks man, i just added it up, including carb, regulator, drive line and all electronics to control the motor and trans, i think it is 3000$, that is all the odds and ends, sold the intake off the 4.8, sold the old motor and trans, so that was 650$ back in my pocket. 2350$ is what is invested, including a new Y pipe run into the old I pipe after selling old parts.

Yea, it is a great setup. The trans and controller was about a thousand, if you are keeping the 700R, you will save there.

No, the speedometer will not work for whatever reason, i need to figure out why, i hooked up the hand held and it is spot on, but the truck seedo when hooked up to either wire is not doing anything.

Is this what you used for the motor mounts? I'm going to have some questions I think, I'll have a 5.3l sitting out back tomorrow. Guess I'm changing directions.

Those are close to what i have, but those are better with more options for mounting location.

Hmm so they should work? I still have my truck motor mounts, so I guess I'm just trying to figure out what I need to get this all mounted in there now. I do have a regular cab, will the trans still use the same crossmember? I'm getting the crossmember that is from the donor truck also I guess.

So the plate just bolts to the motor and then to the original truck mounts from 1988? I don't use anything motor mount wise from the 5.3?

Correct, but if you want to use the LS engine AC bracket, you need to go a different route, they interfere with the mounting of a OE truck or car AC compressor. The stock trans X member worked for me.

The mounting plate interferes with the ac compressor itself or are you saying mounting in the factory location the truck accessory bracket will interfere with the truck? I know back when I was thinking lt1 swap I was going to have to notch the front to clear the ac compressor.

You would have to notch the frame for the LS as well and use a different mount as the mount will be in the way of the compressor mounting area:

Ah I got it now, thanks. Over on FSC they so far have recommended an A/C relocation mount, but it comes with a new compressor. I don't know if I should just get a new one anyway or roll the dice with the compressor that came with the motor. No telling how long this motor hasn't ran. It does look like a nice complete kit though to get the job done and mount the compressor up high like the original TBI motor had. Like I said though, new compressor, so expensive. Probably close to $550 shipped which is almost half what I paid for this complete setup I picked up.

There is a kit that reuses the stock 88-94 GMC compressor and has a bracket that makes it sit in the stock location for 300$, guy on PT.net sells them, someone posted in my thread there about it, there was another that made the stock 88-94 bracket mount to the LS motor and allow the stock compressor to work yet again.

Great swap....great info. Im bookmarking it. I just picked up a complete 5.3 for my 90 scsb. My 350 tbi has a bad piston ring at 289k so i figured get something better. Keeping the old nv3500....i know it wont last, but i think itll get me round till i save for t56.
