Default 408 lq4,l92,build for 92 corvette.

my plans are to build a street legal drag car out of this weary lt-1 car.408 lq4,forged internals, victor jr intake, quick fuel 750 carb, off the shelf l92 heads,200 shot either spray bar or plate, still havent decided on the cam"need help",going to try for around 11:1 comp.looking for low 6's or high 5's in the eighth.cars is right around 3000 with me in it but, will probally be closer to 2800 when i get the rest of the non essentials out.i need to order the carb and intake today so if anyone has any comments about my choices for those items chime in.

One thing you should look into is the camshaft, most people are doing it in the wrong way by matching up camshafts that don't like the way l92 heads are. ( like using off the shelf cams that was designed for ls1/ls2/ls6 cathedral intake port heads with the L92 heads !! )

You are moreover doing a carb intake so this make it really difficult to find a good off the shelf camshaft that match up with your combination

The right way to do it is to do it custom ! Patrick G or Geoff @ Engine Power System get my vote for custom camshaft selection ..

here is a pic of the new heads with part numbers.ive heard some conflicting stories about the intake valves seperating where the stem meets the face of the valve.are these stock valves okay or do they need to find a new home in the trash?

I have a lq4 with the 243 heads. custom cam and victor Jr. And it runs best with an 850 on it. You have way more heads and cubic inch so I don't know if I would try the 750.

my only concern is that a 850 will be hard to tune for idle and driveability.i havent decicded on what cam to run but i suspect that idle vacuum will be on the low side,so i thought that maybe running the smallest carb i could get away with was the right thing to do.not sure though.i mainly want to race the car at the track but it will some street time.i need to order the carb tomarrow so i need to figure this out.

Not sure how much HP but it went 11.13 in a 3200lb. Mustang not hooking up and I drive it to and from the track and all over and never have problems with it idling or anything.
