Able to pick up a 625 Road Demon for $175 from a friend. It does work as it is in use currently. I have read some bad things about these, but don't know.

im not a big fan, but ive always worked with holleys. a buddy of mine put one on a sweet little 383 i put together for him. it was used, so i dont know about its history, but when we took it to the track, car wouldnt even make a full pass. no matter what we did, we couldnt get the float level right. he wound up sending it to a carb guru in our area and 275 bucks later , it does pretty good. my 2 cents is find a holley. there is alot more support for holleys if u have a problem.

Like most of the Barry Grant products, theyre junk.

There is a reason he went out of business.

Yeah. I've got a QFT P-750 on my 5.7 LS1 in the Chevelle right and my friend wants to sell the Demon. I just wondered about it for $175? Everything ive been reading said they have problems. I think I'll pass on it.

I had a Road Demon once. And it tried to kill me. Throttle shaft would stick open somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 throttle. They claimed I had torqued it down wrong...my 1/4 inch torque wrench says otherwise. Ended up being some casting flash on carb body. Went back to an old used Holley and never looked back.

I run a mighty demon 850 and I really like it, zero issues. It did need a little tuning to get right, but ANY carb will, I don't care who builds it

Ive tried 3 different demons in the past and there a love/hate relationship. If its working its good, if not...Then its a overpriced paper weight.

I had a Barry grant 650, I ran that carb on 3 different car motors and 1 marine application and never had a problem with it. I did switch to a Holley when I went to a bbc marine application and I am always messing with it. I should have spent the extra hundred dollars and got a marine demon my .02 cents.

Well, I passed on the Road Demon. Decided to spend that extra money saved for a Innovate Motorsports wideband kit. Thanks for all the input.

750 Mighty Demon....no issues here.

They did have some issues with casting flash and metal shavings at one point though.

I have a similar carb, 625CFM, Electric Choke Vacuum Secondaries Chevy Kickdown. It cost $350 new, purchased it in October of 2010.

It worked great, however there was many earlier complaints on their quality control and people finding metal shavings in the carburetor when they received it. Mine looked fine when I got it, it was very rich out of the box and I tuned it to my SBC 360 CI on the dyno. Makes great power and starts very easily in the winter. I also own a 770cfm Holley and I like that too.

Barry Grant is back in business and I believe Holley bought them out.

Previous motor I had a 650 speed demon for a year with zero problems. New motor went with a 750 mighty demon and it has been on there about 6 months with zero issues so far. I have had really good luck out of both demon carbs I have had.

i have a demon 750 race carb and its been great, however mine came though a uk guy who strips them, cleans out the flash/crap and ensures the floats etc are all set up right. was told that was the best way to make sure it would have no issues.

for $175 you cant go wrong. They are basically just a Holley with better circuit layout. The craftsmanship does suck but if your any good with a wrench that shouldn't be a problem. If you don't want it I'll take it.

Cheers

I had a speed demon 750 cost me a $5500 motor since no matter what i done it was still extremely Lean. I could change the jets 3 sizes at a time and it never would add fuel. Call Barry grant and they were the rudest bunch of idiots I have ever talked too. Never again for me
