Old school 406...

Trust me. I sold an 800 hp BBC to do my ls swap. I couldn't be happier. There's something new coming out everyday. It's very exciting to be building a motor that's closer to the cusp of technology. Eric L

Solid roller wasn't really quiet but the exhaust note covered that up pretty much
As far as unsure.... it's change....I knew what I had and it's potential...now the great unknown (to me ) LOL
Been kicking this around for some time and I'm making the jump.

I went from stoutly built sbc's to an L92 headed 6.0. The difference in power is inbeleivable. My 6.0 makes 550hp with only a cam swap. To get that kind of power from my sbc's I needed a huge cam,a ton of compression and some pretty exotic heads. A stock GM L92 head will outflow most aftermarket sbc heads. Sbc's just can't compare anymore.

Over the last two years my side project was building a 383 SBC. Snowballed into a solid roller with AFR 210s, a Super Victor and a lightweight rotator. Just made 578 on the dyno with 93 octane and I'll probably spray the hell out of it.
I'm very pumped to beat on this soon but that being said, I'm kicking myself now for not starting off with that money into an L92 build!

Doug G, you will love it. The LS3 in my 72 camaro and the 406 in my 68 camaro make about the same HP. The difference is, the 406 is a nasty long duration cammed screamer and you can barely tell the LS3 cams. Everybody knows the 406s intent , most people think the 72 camaro is a pretty stocker. There is just no comparing the old 23*sbc to the 15* LS. All you have to worry about with your swap is UNDERESTIMATING your new LS monster.
