A little disclaimer: this motor's internals are 100% stock, and as a matter of fact, has never even been apart. The only mods are bolt ons: headers and a carb and intake.

Default its a clone - never had a turbo

It is a fairly heavy car - I've got it down to 3500 or so (with me in it).

Tax refund = race 700R4. A new pair of drag radials helps A LOT too.

Before you spend money on a 700R4, look into a 200 4R, My opinion is that when built, they are the superior OD auto.
If you dont need the OD, just build a th400 and save yourself alot of greif.
My LY6 6.0 (I know, different heads...) in stock form with the carb/headers, ran 12.59 @ 109 in my 3425 camaro, so your results are very much in-line. I am sure there is more in your with fine tuning.

I'm with 3pedals on the tranz unless you making a ton of power or want something to take a punishment then go 4l80e.

Wow 3500 with you in it either you have lightened things a lot or your a pretty light guy (Most are light compared to me..... and my 290-300lbs)

Cool, if my LQ9 runs good in my fox body, I'm thinking of putting one in my T Type. It weighs 3550 with me and turbo v6.

As far as trans goes, I would look at a 4l80e. I'm on my third 200-4r, built by reputable builders. It's on its way out now. Only a mid 11 second car. Since I never drive the GN, its going to get a th350, next time.

Good luck

Thanks guys, the 700R is done and in. I did a LOT of research because I had a 200 4R here in my garage. The 200 will go into OD at WOT, and has a closer spacing of 1st and 2nd gear. Based on what I learned, neither is strong, both can be built strong. Tossup.

When I put the car together last summer, I made a crossmember for the 700 and had the driveshaft cut for the 700. Now the exhaust goes around that crossmember (long story).

To change trannys would have meant getting three other components changed, so that factored into my decision.

It will be fine if it's built well.
You have any plans for the engine?

Default engine plans

Well, you all know that some people fixate on peak HP on dyno pulls. I am more interested in ET and torque. I don't want to overpower the suspension/traction the car gets.

Future plans include a stronger rear end (Strange?) and a cam and valve springs. I will keep the 317s because of the torque and velocity they offer. I think I will be happy running one 11.99 once.

11.99, lol, w/ a reasonable cam it will go low 11's at about 117.
You will not be disappointed if 11.99 is the goal:-)
