The replacement (91 B4C RS 4.8 swap)
As most know, I wrecked the 89 RS. Was a sad day, but all in all, I am ready to get back into a more comfortable third gen anyway. So, got lucky and today I traded my 5.3 from the 86 TA for this 1991 B4C police package RS camaro. I am stomping holy ground as yanking the factory, one year of 2 made as a RS, the stock tuned port injection. Someone had dumped in a 5.7 with aluminum heads from a 91 vette. Selling that and the T5 from it, and I am glad I got another factory 5 speed. My 4th one, all of them rally sports, but this one is truly special as the one RS I always wanted was a B4C police car.
Since it has the big brakes and is essentially a Z28 with RS badges, it has the beefier suspension and will be getting an attempt at autocross. I'll probably look the fool at first, but it looks like a blast.
Have a 2000 4.8, the T56 from the old 89, and the rear 10 bolt is a 3.42 gear set. Going to go stock with a carb, see what fuel economy it gets and see what it will run.
Previous best from my carbed L98, t5 with 4.10s in the 89 was 13.87 at 101, so we will see if the little replacement for the 5.0 liter from yesteryear can hold it's own with it's technology. Then it will get a cam.
Here it is, she has 2 rust spots I will cut out of the 89 to replae, otherwise, she need a nose, I have one, front spoiler I can get. RS from hawks, and the rocker I can get at the scrap yard.
Between factory dual fans and all the other goodies, I will attempt to make this my nicest ride yet.
Cannot wait to drive her and get the86 TA running with the 6.0!

That is a good looking car. I even like those factory wheels on the car. I would not shed a single tear yanking out that wheezer tuned port. I hated working on those motors.
I would have to stab a small cam in there while the motor was out of the car. There is a 220/220 and I think a 214/220 cam in the parts for sale section. Just sayin'.

6.0 is going in the TA with a 4800 converter, along with the 4.30 Moser. Then put the 150 kit on, see how much faster it is with an auto
Going to put my gray 30th anniversary seats in from my 89, mess it all up!

Yep, sucks I have ti work, will be a bit before I can work on it. There are 4 rust spots I need to fix as I await parts to get it running, goin to extend a loan to buy a mustang that I will be flipping for extra cash. With that I want to buy a 220 amp mig welder. Then I can do all the repair at home and make more solid custom pieces than my little flux core 110 will allow.
I did notice yesterday that the front damage had been because of slight impact, the head light support and core are slightly pressed in. Not biggie but I wish I would make it straight.

Sold the 4.8 heads, got some 853 LS1 heads, probably going to mill them .030-.040. Started porting them today, used to use pneumatic air tools. Found a Chinese electric grinder with elongated shaft, i still have my hearing and no air compressor to bother me and wait for it to catch up. Used a variable speed router to control it and slow to a usable speed.
But, the work seems better with the extra control, i am no pro but i do work that is free to me and makes more power. Going to use the edelbrock carbed Ls cam, will need a Performer RPM intake as well. The Vic Jr will work for temporary.
Here is some pics, looks better in person but gives you a idea.
After some castrol super clean:
