I know most of you have cars, but thought I'd update everyone on my 06 GMC Sierra. After going from the stock 4.3 V6 with a few mods, running from 16.75's to 14.50's. Then putting a 6.0 in and putting a carb on it. Am now running 11.20's @ 119, on a 100 shot of juice. Have just tore the bed off and changing to a ford 9" with 4.30's and ladder bars with coilovers. Will be putting coilovers on the front also. Last time out I ran 7.15's in the 1/8th with a 150 shot. Which I think translates to around 11.0's or so in the 1/4. Have the weight down to 3660 and with this round of changes should shave some more weight off. Maybe another 200. ( Hopefully ) Will eventually be putting 300 shot to it. Have the Edelbrock progressive controller which is really worth the money. Still have the stock 317 heads, which next year will be getting changed, not sure to what yet. ( 243's L92's ??? ) This motor is a 6.0 with a Callies stroker crank, rods and Diamond .040 11 to 1 pistons. With the stock 317's the builder said it was probably 10.6 or so comp. So with the right heads and intake combo, will make this old fat truck really light em up. My goal is FASTER, then MORE FASTER. YUK YUK.

Thanks a bunch. Have been having a ball with it. Am wanting to see those single digits,so am slowly working in that direction. With up to a 250 shot am hoping to see 10.50's ( or better ) next time out . Hope it will be ready for Labor day weekend. The converter was sent into PTC and was reworked. They said it was really loose and was not set up for Nitrous. So it got ballooning plates and all. and tightened up a bunch. He said I'd see a real difference when I got to 175 shot and up. So far have only use 150 shot and did about 1 1/2 tenths better. Thanks again Zone.

COOL truck Steve!
Are you at 402+ inches right now? There is definately a cost to convert to the L92 heads, I like mine, but the conversion money could be spent on CNC porting of the heads you have and gain as much or more... just tossing that out there. In any case cut your heads to up the squeeze to 11:1 plus

Oh Yea,.... I think the last run on a 150 shot put me real close. 7.15 in the 1/8th. Should transulate somewhere around 11.0s to 11.10. Going to be in the 10's next time out with the rear suspension working better and a 200 shot.

Hi, I'm at 410 c.i. We went with a 408 callies stroker kit with Diamond pistons. Only difference was I'm at .040 instead of .030. So making it 410. I have found a head guy in Wyndotte Ok. We had that same conversation.......He ask how much horsepower I had.Told him I really didn't know, that the engine builder said around 475 to 500 at the flywheel. Then with the NOS up to another 250 hp.Then at the most around 700 at the wheels.
He said I probably would not do my self any favors with the L92's. That I probably should stay with Cathedral port and have them completely done valves and ported with matched porting on the intake. Also cut heads to get my 11.1 comp. He said unless I had 850 hp and up, he wouldn't suggest L92's. But thats next year, I'm baRoke...LOL

Allot are suggesting rectangle port heads for 440 Plus cubes, but that is really for ported ls3/l92. The cathedrals ported ate great for 400 or less, but unported ls3 do damn well, it is like the old oval port vs rectangle port big block arguments. The LS does seem to be the bridge between small and big blocks to me.

Yea and most of us are inbetween 400 and 440. So this head guy is going to make a set of cathedral heads that will make my 410 really sing.
Well got to the shop today and they are getting the 9" in and the ladder bar brackets tacked in, tomorrow the coil overs brackets, etc. After everything is where it should be he will weld it all and send over to have powder coated. Also will order the axles and bearings, etc. tomorrow. Need to have driveshaft redone. Its to short. Here are a few more pics..............

the thing is, if you already have a great intake for the cathedrals then keep em and do a killer port on them.
If you are willing to change the intake/rockers, go for the square ports. My engine is 364CI, it likes the L92 heads, but the large runner means tuning the small cube engine for more rpm. Your 408 will be happy with the square ports IF you choose to run them.
MY advice, is build for some decent rpm, at least a peak at 7K or a touch higher, there is easy hp in rpm. This means calling a REAL cam guy, not an internet forum cam guesser

Hey guys.... Thought I'd up date ya. Ran into a glich. The pro gears have a bigger bearing than the stock 9" case so have to order a new case. But everything else is moving along.
The wheel wells got widened to the frame and a piece put in to make it look stock. A tub was put in for the fuel cell and everything painted, looks nice. Axles came in and the 9" housing was finished and is back from the powder coaters.
The rain from Isaac has us pretty wet. So our local track canceled friday nite T&T and the first day of a 2 day labor day race. The rain is supposed to stop today and clear up for tomorrow. They plan on putting 2 days of racing into 1 day tomorrow. That should be fun. The pits are probably going to be "the pits " . Pretty wet....
Heres a few pics.........

Well finally got the pickup home, was planning on going to the track tonight. Only it is really cold and the wind is making it worse. 3 more weeks of fun drags and they will be on sundays. Hopefully it will be warmer. The Shop did a great job and can be proud. A recap of work done >>>>>>>>>>
9" ford with a full spool and 4.30 gears. New 35 spline axles. Ladder bars and QA1 coilovers. Change from drum brakes to disc, that was a chore.
Also mini tubbed and have new 29 X 10.5 W Hosier slicks . Here are a few pics.

Yea, I agree on the free HP. Only with the wind blowin as hard as it was, it makes it pretty uncomfortable. Also didn't think the track would warm up enough. There will be a better day . I need to be patient. HA-HA.

Well, the better day is here. Track opens tomorrow at 12 noon. Runs start at 1 will run as the last run I made before the changes and see how much improvement there is.
Should have some with all the suspension changes and spool, gears, tires and losing 160 pounds.
I'm using a progressive controller and it is set for 50% off the line then kicking the rest in at 3 seconds. I'm going to up the amount of nos off the line to 75% and then run the whole 150 off the line,to see how the traction is. Then as we make any adjustments change plugs and timing and go to a 200 shot.
Will post when I get home.

Made it ...........YEA.......... 10.96 @ 123.73 . Still need some tweeking should get into the 80's. That was with 150 shot 50% off the line and the rest at 3 seconds. My nitrous controller stopped working so I left and will try to find out what happened this week. Then try again next week. Here is a copy of the time slip.
