Default Valve Spring..Advice

Ok so I have a set of brandnew new oem LS3 heads and a TSP TorquerV2 camshaft. What springs do yall recommend??

The cam is rated at .598 lift so would a .600 lift spring kit work properly without floating valves?? I would rather go with comp springs too just because I've never really seen bad reviews on then vs others which I have.

Thanks in advance!

The bits of advice I can offer would be to spend the extra money on a good dual spring setup, as I see far too many single springs fail. The other is don't run too much open spring pressure with stock rocker arms, it can damage valve tips long term. Stay under 400 lbs open if you can.

Please check out my Platinum dual spring kit, they work great with stock rockers. http://www.briantooleyracing.com/660...s-engines.html

Ok will do..i have stock LS3 rocker with comp bearings installed. I've been told by a few ls gurus that they are actually better than some roller tip aftermarket rockers.

The stock 15 degree (LS1,LS2,LS3) rockers have pros and cons.

The great part is they are cheap, reliable and very light (from a moment of inertia standpoint)

The bad part is they're designed for about .600" lift max. At lifts upwards of .650" they are actually opening the valve with the tip end of the rocker scroll. The problem becomes that the contact patch becomes very narrow (when it's opening with the tip end of the rocker) at the same time that spring pressure is highest (highest lift) and the oil film can't support the pressure.

So as long as your cam is designed with less than .630" lift and your open spring pressure is 400 lbs or less then you should be in good shape.

That is a great deal. I used to run some random eBay no name springs that were sin gor beehive setup, full kit for 180$, idk what happened to them but were bad ***. Never had one fail on 3 kits I have used. Trex cam and 7200 all day. Now I have no option for them and that is a damn good deal. As for failing, seen more dual springs fail in my experience for some reason. Probably because more are used. The ovate beehive is supposed to lose less sprig pressure over time as well, but everyone says different about all these different products.

I have Brian's springs as well and great product. This guy has been in the LS game a long time. Really helped me out when another spring manufacturer's product didn't setup right.

On a side note, I think the Torquer V2 is designed around a cathedral port head. LS3's like a different split. A custom cam would cost the same as an off the shelf. I'd get with Pat G or Geoff at EPS if you haven't already purchased.
