Default Whats going to be the best bang for my buck?

I am about to drop a stock lq4 into my 67 Buick. I've got the Performer RPM setup, 770 Holley, a 1 3/4 headers, and 2 1/2" dual exhaust. In a perfect world I would add a cam, convertor, and gears now. Unfortunately I can't do all of them right now and don't want to keep my car off the road while waiting. So if you could only do one, which would it be? Currently running stock 3.08 gears, turbo 400, and stock stall.

I would do the converter now as well. It would be easier to do during the initial motor install so you don't have to pull the tranny later. The cam swap is easy enough done with the motor in the car and depending on the size, it would probably make the car a bit of a pig with your current gears and a stock converter.

That is how I was leaning too. Would there be any issues or possible damage to the convertor if I run a 3500 stall converter with the stock cam and gears? My highway RPMs are around 2800 with my old engine.

Nah, no issues. The higher (numerically lower) gears will just make the converter act a little looser but I doubt it will cause too much excessive heat.

I agree with the converter while the motor is out.

My old school combo before I got gears was fun to drive.... 2.73's 1st would go to 60mph,second would bury the speedo (120) and never topped out 3rd fun with the ricers on the street (since those old cars weren't know for top speed over distance ) but still did 2.0 60's all day and 13.2-13.5's only using 1st and 2nd.
