Default which flywheel do i have ?

looked through some forums and read that my LS2 should have a flat flywheel and not the curved one like the 5.3, well i just wanted to snap a pic of mines just to be sure which one it is. to me mines looks like it has a curve but i have not seen one off a 5.3 to compare it to.

That doesn't look like mine which is curved. Mine has three windows in it shaped like a kidney bean and three oblong holes, one in between each kidney shape. It has a smooth contour where it curves and the the center is about 3/8-1/2" sunken in compared to the ring gear

I tried looking at pictures on the Internet but I'm still confused, I did read in one of the threads on here that if it was a flat flex plate it would be stamped engine side on the engine side and that the curved one is not marked bacause it can only go on one way. Anyone know if that is true ?

That is the curved flexplate. Hole design on the flexplates will vary. Gm had some issues with early flexplates cracking and came out with a redesigned piece that had more holes. I wouldnt worry as much about what flexplate is on the motor until you choose a transmission, than go from there. JMHO. Eric L

IIRC, you can use the dished flexplate with the spacer between the flexplate and converter. The spacer is there to support the snout of the converter when using a standard TH350 converter. The TBSS probably had a 4L60E behind it. Hope this helps, Eric L

There are two styles of spacers. The gm spacer has a flange and requires longer bolts. The aftermarket ones I have seen are just cylindrical and slip into the crank snout so no bolts there

I went with a hughes SFI flexplate with the gm spacer with stock bolts. I will also add that I would test fit the converter into the spacer before bolting it all together. Mine was a little on the tight side and I had to pull it back apart. Eric L
