Default 6.0 with LS3 Heads

Which head studs or bolts are needed for a 6.0 with ls3 head, the 2 length or 3 length style?

Thanks

You don't go by heads you go by the block year. Buy according your engine date.

10-4 this 6.0 came out of a 2004 hummer and it has the 3 length bolts. I just wanted to make sure the ls3 heads didn't change the bolt style. Thanks for the info.

What about any sealant on the stud threads. I noticed there are some type of sealant or something on the threads of the new factory Gm head bolts.

Everything I read says no sealant. That is probably some type of lube and/or threadlocker. I'm about to do this myself this weekend so hopefully someone will confirm.

You probably already know to make absolutely certain the head bolt holes are clean and free of liquids. If there is coolant or oil in one you will crack the block when you tighten them down.

Use the supplied arp lube in the.blue packet, they give you plenty. it goes on.both ends of the studs, the washers, and the nuts.

Make sure to use correct torque sequence.. Hand tight studs.. put heads on.. one pass 30# lrg one pass small 25#.. One pass 55# lrg.. last pass 75 lrg..
Back all off and repeat 2-3 times.. last time you do it back the nuts off a good bit and retighten the studs with an Allen. Tighten nuts down again same deal.. wait 30 mins but this time don't back the nuts off and just make a final pass at the final torque setting.

Any L92/Ls3 style head should fit on any lq4/lq9 6.0 block without any issues.

Specific question about valve train?

Your spring and push rod choice will reflect your cam. The trunion upgrade is a nice piece for the price on the rockers if not going aftermarket. Most spring kits come with new seals retainers etc.
