FINALLY got the dang crank pulley off, was just not cooperating.

And finally seeing what it looked like sitting with the small BS air cleaner on it, well....has me thinking of using the spare stock hood with that little GT bulge i have seen on these older stangs. Just to tone it back. Near stock looking. A drop base air filter setup may just work. I need to try the one for the TA just for the heck of it.

Of course it will be a touch higher once the trans is in and leveled out, but if i can make it work, im going to do it.

Man, this thing dropped in just too dang easy. Made all other swaps look like a big ol pain in the rear.

Getting there. I did not take much time prepping that engine bay. So, if it flakes or peels a bit, ill know why. I am not in a hurry to make a show car, so it didnt bother me.

Got some crap done today dang it. Scored a flexalite fan from a friend for 50$. Had to repair a small hole where the bypass flap goes but no biggie. Mounted a random third gen radiator, chopped up a third gen fan upper fan mount and made it work, mounted the fans where i wanted them. Turned out pretty decent for throwing it together on the fly.

Built the trans X member. Decided to make it mount to he sub frames like i am going to on the 86 TA. Could have turned out better, but i was going to angle the pieces to make room for the exhaust, then i remember this is not a third gen that never cam with dual exhaust.... So, who cares about cosmetics on a car like this? Not under there where no one will see anyway.

Pulled the rear cover off the diff, verified Ford 3.73s. Painted the cover. Trying to figure out what to use to clean out the oil from the rear so i can weld the spider gears up and not catch fire...

Removed the steering shaft and threw the headers on. Driver side rear bolt was a bit of fun, but nothing to cry over.

BTW, car has some of these on the rear:

Pretty sure i am taking them off unless someone can talk me into using them. They do not have the front mounting piece pictured so that tells me they are incomplete.

Haha, that is an option as well... But I think it will be hard to justify when I am in College.

Dropped off some parts, driveshaft should be ready tomorrow. 48 inches. Longer than the th400 shaft from the third gen. Wierd.

A little late with this but for air cleaner clearance. You can mark where the motor mount long bolts are. Then Slot the holes upward front and back lowering the motor 1/2" or more. Weld washers in place to lock it all down.

Yea, but I never ever had any idea it would be anywhere near allowing a stock hood to get anywhere clearing with a air cleaner at all. LOL
