If you make your own PCV connection make sure you get the baffling from the underside of the GM cover too. The whole reason they moved it is to help keep oil out of the intake. Oil effectively decreases the gas octane and can lead to detonation.

Unfortunately, that's a Gen IV cover that is bolted to the engine with 11 bolts. Our engine only has 10 bolts, so I don't think that cover will work.

I think it's going to take something like this:

or this:

and drilling and tapping my own vent port.

Try this. you need the oil separator baffles or else you might as well just stick with the valve cover hookup.

Ugh! I just ordered the LS1 steam pipe assembly! Oh well, it's only money, right?

LS6 lifter cover is here. Still waiting on the LS1 steam tubes. The parts are slowly rolling in. I'm hoping my Weger's front drive kit is waiting for me when I get home this afternoon.

Pics of the car!? Sounds sweet. But a strictly autoX car that has a th350 ?? Kind of odd.

Not as rare as you might think. I know of three other C Prepared cars with automatics, one of them a Rustang, the others GM vehicles. While I'd prefer a powerglide, this 350 has been good to us, even though it leaks a lot. I plan to fix at least some of that with the engine swap.

Well, the inline picture post didn't work so here's a link to it from a recent autocross:

Well, the LS6 cover arrived. We definitely have a LS1 block.

I'll be cutting some aluminum away from the block this weekend. The steam tubes also arrived. It seems I ordered the LS6 tube instead of the LS1 unit.

The parts pile grows.

Rain kept much work from happening out in the shop other than R&R the blown FPR on the wife's 9C1 Caprice. I did get the missing sensors and got them installed.

There were a couple of boxes from Wegner's waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday.

But it looks like I'll be replacing the A/C compressor on the wife's Caprice THIS weekend!

I finally got the SL6 lifter cover fitted in. For those having to cut that well off the side of the LS1 block, I recommend something more durable than a Dremel tool. My Dremel did the job, but I had to take several breaks to let the Dremel housing cool to the point I could handle it again, even with work gloves on. Wow!

I got some stock valve covers, but it looks like they may not work with my current cam and Yella Terra 1.7 ratio rockers. Without the gaskets in place, the covers won't sit flat on the head. I was hoping to be able to use them for now, then go with something nicer-looking later, but it looks like before i start the car, I'll need different valve covers.

It's only money, right?
