Default Alternator charging question

Ok so I know some of you will read the title give me the "do a search it's been covered a million times", well I challenge you to then do a search for the later truck alternators...mine is off a 2005 silverado...

My alternator has (from driver side of alternator on plug) P L I S...I have tried 12v switched to the L terminal--->fail, I have tried 12v switched to I combined with 12v switch with resistor to L---> again fail....I can't find the correct year wiring diagram to figure it out on my own....

So the question is either does someone have a wiring diagram or a list of the different types of alternators (dr44, etc.) or a better idea? Up til now I only had a pigtail with the I and L terminal wires, but I went to summit racing today and got a 4 wire pigtail to cover all bases be I'm literally about 2-3 days from driving a 2 year project, so you can imagine my giddiness...anyway Thanks in Advance

I used a 97 silverado alternator lately and it doesnt need a resistor. Otherwise, i used the 87-92 V8 third gen camaro/firebird alternators in the stock bracket.

Ok I found a guy on an old truck forum with the same 05 L33 I have and he said to go with 12 volts switched to the sense wire (S terminal, pin closest to passenger side) and the resistor equipped site to the lamp (L terminal)...I was going to try that anyway but it's nice to hear someone else that has tried says it works....so I will report my findings, crossing my fingers because I don't wanna spend any more $$$$$!!!!

I wired a external regulator to the field wire inside the alternator. Hasn't skipped a beat yet.

Well it looks like I fried my alternator so I will be buying one the wires in easier lol, the guy at the alternator shop did tell me to wire a diode in line with the lamp terminal so I don't back feed voltage and fry my ignition circuit...
