18 at 0, ramp all in to 30 by 2000 across the board. From there tweak away. You can throw a dip in between 4-5 and then back by 6k. 2 deg. I bet it will like 32* more.

 

Holy **** you have an 800double pumper on a 5.3....better keep that gas tank full lol

 

I don't really get why people say this....? The 800 is cfm the carb is able to flow, the jets and accelerator pump are what determines gas usage. I got 23 mpg (@55 mph) and my carb flowed between 980-1040 cfm on a 6.0.

Yes. Zero the map first, then plot the curve. If you want map for drivability ,get the base timing dialed in, then stack the map on it.

Any engine generally makes more torque with advanced timing, within reason. That being said, if the car will hook, Id bring the max # in earlier depending on your stall speed. If you have a looser converter, all in at 1800 is good to go. If you have a stock converter , Id get all the timing in at stall speed.

Im just curious why everyone seems to ramp the timing through the idle RPM? With a carb , it seems like idle quality would suffer because the timing would be searching if the idle fluctuates at all with, say, a big cam or any issue in the idle circuit on the carb.
With the Fast EZ setup on mine, I enabled the idle quality search option and played with a steep rise on the timing curve. It sounds super radical for how mild my cam is. Im just not sure the ramp is a good idea with a carb that doesnt have an ECU to stabilize the idle.
