I wasnt sure if you installed a new pan. But since you just pulled it off to inspect, that shouldnt be the issue. I hope you get it fixed. I worried about mine for a bit till I fixed it. Now i just worry about blowing my oil filter off down track. LOL

grease in the pump works great. I will never put one back together without it. People been doing it for years. Like I said, mine picked it up in less than 5 seconds. That priming tool will work too, my parts house in our little town probably doesnt have it.

Did you crank it without the plugs after packing it, or just start it up? Wonder if I could just pull the front cover and take the front off the oil pump and pack it on the crank without taking the pickup tube off and dropping the oil pan. I have to take every bolt completely out of the pan to get mine to drop far enough because I have a Lakewood bellhousing and a crossmember that I built. They won't let it tilt down far enough to get the pickup tube bolt out

i would think you could just pull the front off the pump and pack it in there. I did mine on the bench cause I was changing it. I had my plugs out, but it spun over very little before showing pressure on the gauge.

We got it. Thanks for the help. Heres what I done. Took the new pump back off. Was gonna take it apart and pack it with vaseline but the melling pump has torx 30 that hold the cover on. Must have been put on by the hand of god because 2 came out easy and I stripped 2 trying to get them out. Decided that getting the other 3 out would be impossible, I just packed it and rotated it as I packed it til it squirted out the pressure side. Put it back on. Cranked it about 6 or 7 seconds with the plugs out and boom, 40 LBS of pressure. Im gonna go back out in a few minutes and fire it back up and see what happens. Thanks to fast89stangfor the idea.
