Default Slow 6.0

I have a 6.0 stroker std bore 4 in stroke
Gmpp CNC LS3 heads
Gmpp intake
11.5:1
Comp Cam 281LLR 231 247 at .050 LS 113
176 powerglide 5500 converter
456 gears 28in tires
850 carb
Wideband o2
In a 91 mustang coupe
I am trying to run the 7.0 index class but the best I can get out
of it is 1.55 60ft 6.996 1/8 at 99.31
I need it to run about 6.70 in 1/8
The only weight reduction is AJE k member
I have had my afr between 11 to 13 and timing between 28 to 36
best time is with afr at 12 and timing at 34
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Where does your power peak? That's a lot of stall!

I agree thats a hi stall. What does the converter flash to? I would think that a 408? would be all in at 6700-6800 with that cam. If the converter flashes at all you are pegged out and blew right past the torque peak. Was the engine on a dyno after the build? Im just curious where the torque peak would be. My guess would be around 5000 rpms.

Don't know for sure but I would say around 6500 to
7000
It was flashing at 4400 on the brake
Had it set back now it is at 5500
With it at 4400 my best 60ft was 1.65
1/8 was 7.18 at 98
I am thinking that the 113 lsa on the
cam is hurting but don't know how
much it will pick up with a cam change

That wide lsa should have power coming in late. Not a carb grind for sure. You should be allot faster with more cam as well. Not allot of cam for 400 cubes.

6.0 here, L92 heads, stock stroke. Vic jr intake, 950 ultra hp. 5500 BTE converter, turbo 350, 4.10 gears in a 3050-3100 lb coupe. Best 60ft so far is 1.41 ET is 6.50@104. My cam is 111+3. Sounds like you have something way off. I have my timing at 36 also, havent tried 37 yet.

Cam is WAY off. Call Geoff @ EPS, Martin @ Tick Peformance or Patrick G and have them do you a custom cam. Same cost as an off the shelf.

My car is standard 6.0 with LS3's, Vic Jr, 950 carb, PTC 8" 5500 stall, Glide, 4.56's, 275/60 drag radial. 1.49-1.52 60's off brake and runs 6.60's

+1. Don't guess at off the shelf grinds. Same money gets you the RIGHT cam for your setup.

234/250 .621/.629 112+4 (efi grind) lq9 stock ls3 heads. I made 399.8 on dyno dynamics dyno (roughly 450+ whp dyno jet #'s) Thru a 3600rpm stalled th400. Not a ideal cam but it works. That was with a rich afr and 29* timing too, peaked at 6800 but they didn't run it up to see where it dropped cuz the tires were off balance. I'd guess close to 7100 it would show a drop.

I don't like that cam at all for your combination.

I have done many successful carb grinds for LS3 heads. Contact me if you'd like for me to do the same for you.

Changing the cam is certainly a good starting point for sure. It is the only part of your combo that looked out of place to me.
