Default 671 blower

Got a chance to buy a new, just head unit, bds 671 blower. for 800. Thinks its a good deal? nothing comes with it other than the blower top portion.

800 is a good deal on the blower unit. but adapting it to the lsx is still expensive. would make for a cool show car type thing. the amount of money putting that together would make more power in the form of a turbo or centrifugal supercharger i think.

oh ive looked into it. I can get the manifold for my ls3 heads for about 500 bucks. I don't care about the power, I just want the wow factor.

It would be about 5k-6k I think to get it set up, maybe a little more.

Go for it and post lots of pictures. You just do not see people using old school blowers on Gen III stuff.
The manifold would be easy enough to adapt. The tough part would be how to drive it using a serpentine belt.

That's a good thing because they take a lot of power to turn and they make a lot of heat. I would only have one on a nostalgia car. I would just be too embarrassed to have my *** handed to me by a car with a flat hood.

I'd do it in a salt flat themed 32 Ford or something.

I know man!. And I just installed my nitrous too! lol. But I have always wanted a blower, I mean yeah my car may only make 700-800 conservatively on this blower.... lol, I'm going to start collecting parts and probably do it after the first of the year, I have to take the motor out and swap pistons, and really cut the cowl and windshield to make it fit. I'm going to enjoy the nitrous for a few months and then do this blower build after the first of the year, I have only seen I think 2 f bodies that have done it, I'm sure there is more just have not seen them. and i'm talking carbed!!! not EFI.

Blower Drive Service sells a 8mm drive kit for about $1650 and a manifold for $1100.

ive seen where you found the intake on ebay, ive been wanting to do one with a 177 blower. and run it off the crank pulley, stock is like 7.25. that would put your boost with the biggest top pulley around 9 to 10 pounds boost.. but you can get someone to make some bigger pulleys. on the ebay intake to mount the blower down just fill in or plug the 671 holes and drill for the 1.77 holes. also u will prob have to do some welding up the blower hole some too.. ive been doing some homework trying to onne day change to that. I have 2 bubbies that has the small blowers that I can measure from, that helps, but that 500 dollar intake is the problem..lol

oh forgot carcraft or hot rod mag did a write up on doing the 871 blower,,, id post it but my old laptop crashed and don't have the place now.. im going to retrieve the info soon and ill post it..

There is a lot of work to be done that's for sure. But def doable. I think i'm going to hold off until I can find a good deal on an 871. I know its going to be a bigger pain to get it to fit in my car but it will make less heat.

The drive for a 871 is a couple hundred dollars cheaper than a 671
