Default Project mini "Full Pull"

My dad built a mini pulling tractor that is based off of a garden tractor. He runs in the wild class which uses a carb'd v8. He originally had a SBC in it.

So he went out to his first event with it and finished 3rd but it was under powered. I convinced him it was time for a LS1 swap. Out came old skool

For now the set up is stock motor with a Vic Jr intake and a 650 carb, custom converter, built th350, electric water pump. It's so close to the end of the year we decided to just finish it out with the stock motor. This winter it will get a custom cam, valve springs, rockers, and a set of worked over 5.3 heads.

First start up vid. The water pump isn't on so we couldn't let it run long. The idle is high and needs to be set......

First pull ever with the LS and it did ok. It needs to get higher in the rpms. I think the converter may be too loose. Either way here is a vid.

Default Fix the Link!

Cool project, I am excited to see the results so fix the damn link!

If you are looking for more RPM, maybe consider replacing the stock springs this season. The stockers can get tired and limit RPMs. Another thing to check, the stock MSD box has the RPM limiter set at 5500RPM from the facotry, be sure to bump it UP! Also since you are not concerned with "street manors" maybe consider stepping up to a 750CFM to ensure enough top end flow. A lot of guys run 750 or even 850 carbs with good results. I'm running a 750 on a 100% stock 5.3 and it seems to eat it up on the top end.

Also a question, on a tractor of that size is switching to an LS1 and losing 130lb'ish seem to adversly affect traction? Or is that an issue you address by just adding more plates up front?

Sorry guys, I am using the new app for all this and it seems to have a few issues. I think the link is fixed now. Ok so I think the problem with not getting up on rpms was because my dad didn't top off the tranny fluid. It was low and when we went to back it out of the trailer the next day it would pull in reverse. He is getting old and forgets ****, lol. I agree on the 750 and will be on the hunt for one. Since he dropped weight with the motor that allowed us to add weight on the tractor. We added over the rear wheels.

We got on the dyno the other day to see if we could pick up a little power. On the first pull we noticed the A/F was stupid lean, in the 17's. Jetted the carb and raised the fuel pressure and picked up 70 hp. It's funny how clean and smooth it pulled as lean as it was.

Ok so we had a pull today, only the second time out ever with the LS motor and we shut down shop!!! First place all day! What is so bad *** is all the other guys are running built heads, cam, etc SBC and we come with a 100% stock LS1 slinging internals to 7000 rpms on the rev limiter and run the show. Here is a vid of one pull.....
