The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
If you are looking for more RPM, maybe consider replacing the stock springs this season. The stockers can get tired and limit RPMs. Another thing to check, the stock MSD box has the RPM limiter set at 5500RPM from the facotry, be sure to bump it UP! Also since you are not concerned with "street manors" maybe consider stepping up to a 750CFM to ensure enough top end flow. A lot of guys run 750 or even 850 carbs with good results. I'm running a 750 on a 100% stock 5.3 and it seems to eat it up on the top end.
Also a question, on a tractor of that size is switching to an LS1 and losing 130lb'ish seem to adversly affect traction? Or is that an issue you address by just adding more plates up front?
