Gutted with a aluminum dash here. Im at 2800 with 36 gallons of gas and a iron block 6.0/th400 combo. I still want to get rid of the bumpers and get race wheels and racing buckets. But my 8.8 and roll bar is gunna add weight too.

1991 reg cab short box. 5.3, th350. full interior, mostly, no heater stuff, no headliner, manual doors. engine bay has no inner fenders. have prostars, 15x4 front and 15x8 rear, 3000lbs with me in it im 180. same with 89GMC, im going with 8.8 for next year so that will add a little, hoping that replacing the stock rear bumper with ball hitch with a roll pan will offset the weight.

I did it quickly by myself its not how I want it tho. I need to have my gauges tipped down more like how my tach is. You cant accurately read the gauges unless you lean forward. I have a speedhut speedometer I installed the same day I took this video too. Im going to remove this dash and make another one the way I want it. Its made out of aluminum that I bent in a hand break I cut the long straight panels with a 4' foot shear and trimmed with a standard hand tin shear. The sheet cost me like 90$ for a 5x10' and that was enough to do the dash and door panels with plenty left over for trial and error. It looks way better than it did with nothing. Feels more like a vehicle than a death trap now.

I dont know honestly on weight. The heater and ac system was pretty heavy. It wasnt hard just a bunch of tearing **** out. Building the dash was easy but ive done stuff like that and had a fulk shop to use

I don't know about 1st gens, but for sure second gen doors are heavy. So I would agree with 1981TA...gut them doors. You might lose the ability to roll the windows up and down, but you'll save some good weight.
