Springs are Moroso 212lb Trick Springs and the shocks are just crappy CE 3-ways. The shocks aren't something I would recommend outside of an extreme budget situation. I really need a good double adjustable shock up front to control bounce after it touches down and to control rate of rise when I get to larger hits. The springs however are great. They store a ton of energy.

Along with the springs and shocks, I've done quite a few other little things to make the front suspension work well. Things like Global West del-a-lum bushings, AFCO "loose" ball joints, double nutting the lower a-arms so they're not over tightened, ect. You'd think with all that I'd have bought better shocks but I think I was broke by that point.

Here's a video of the launch with my best 60' so far. It was a 1.39 on a 53 jet all in off of the brake.

Good separation, but you definitely needs some bounce control. LOL She carries the nose all the way down the track too.

Yeah it never really settles down going down the track. I had to set the shocks at 80/20 because at 90/10 it rises too quickly on the hit but the 80 compression dampening isn't doing me any favors.

For a drag shock that has good dampening ability, for a decent price ( about 90 buck each) take a look at the Bilstein drag shocks. They don't have a ratio number like 90/10 or 80/20, but they are gas charged to open quickly and dampen very well. I just put a set on my 72 Camaro, but we will have to wait till spring for numbers. They dampen very well on the street though. Bilstein claims a .3 reduction in ET compared to a standard gas shock. I have the CE adjustable on my 68 Camaro and they float like yours does. I hope the Bilsteins will be the trick on the 72. Compared side by side with the KYB GR2s I took off the front of the 72, the Bilsteins are much harder to compress by hand , and open to full extension much quicker.

When you ask about shocks from the drag guys on The Bullet, the thread always goes the same. You need $1000 double adjustable AFCOs and everything else is junk LOL.

However, I have seen a few stories where guys have gotten good results with QA1 Stocker Star R series and the Strange single adjustable for about $300 per pair. That is gonna have to wait though. I have already spent too much on my trans, converter and suspension.

Tigger, have you heard any feedback on the Bilsteins ? Im beginning to think Im the first one out there that bought a set. I can find anything on them except what the company has out.

Thanks but I'm looking for something with a bit more adjustability. Let us know how they work out though. They may be a great compromise for your goals of handling and drag performance.

Then what springs would you recommend for my stock front suspension early 70's car? You can PM me with your advice if you'd like so we don't trash up tigger's thread.

Go ahead and post that info if you like. That is good and relevant info for this thread.

Also, Chris at Circle D said he is going to change my 245MM 2B to a 4C. I told him I wanted to improve my N/A performance as much as possible without slowing the car down on the nitrous. He thinks that the 4C is the best compromise. He said I should expect a stall of 3600-3800.

Cool! I can't wait to hear what I should be using to so I can get this thing right!

That should be a great stall range for you I'd bet. What's your race weight? I'm actually thinking about a new converter for nitrous use myself......except I'm going tighter instead of looser and would be buying a whole new converter and keeping this one on the shelf.

That will put the suspension upgrades to the test ! What did the dyno graph show at 3600-3800? On my setup, a change from a 2100 to a 2800 was huge in the torque at the wheel from a standing start, from a slow roll too !

That's awesome how well it runs at that weight. You've got about 250 or so on me!
