Default Fuel Pump Problem

I switched to a carb setup on my 2000 LS1. When I turn the key on the stock fuel pump comes on for a second and goes back off. I have a f/p reg. to return fuel back to the tank and would rather use the stock pump. I cut the wiring that went to the injectors and transmission off the wiring harness to clean the engine compartment up. I need to know what makes the fuel pump run after the car starts up to keep good pressure?

I believe it runs continuously after it receives a signal from the ecm that everything is running. If it were me, I would source the fuel pump relay trigger wire from the ecm and run it to a toggle or a key hot.

I always like running my fuel pumps through the ignition switch FIRST, than to a toggle, so that I have FULL control of my pump. Hope this helps, Eric L
