Lol, I forgot about this thread. Gives me a idea of what the aluminum 5.3 might do in the 94 GT I will be swapping soon. Using the edelbrock 2216 cam, so may perform a touch better on motor. Need a set of gears and a better converter of course.

UPDATE!!!

Hey guys well its been a while for this thread but I finally made it to the track! Straight off the trailer the car went 9.90 @141 with a soft 1.50 60'. This was on 12-14lbs, 15* of timing and 10.2 AFR at Wot! So much more left in the tuneup! I could have went down 2-4 jet sizes in the rear to get the AFRs where they needed to be. Also, this was only turning the motor 6400! The motor can turn 7-7200 all day with the valvetrain it has. I never even popped the hood that night lol. track saw I had no cage and said GTFO LOL! here's a video!

Lol. Damn tracks and their safety BS. Always trying to keep folks alive.

Hope you can get some more passes when you get the safety equipment in. Looking great!

lol Right Zones!! ehh I should have a cage in it though. The car felt like a sunday drive on the big end. Truthfully, when the girl handed me the 9.90 slip, I thought it was the wrong slip until I looked at the number realizing it actually was me.

My local quarter mile gets super pissy when you run single digits with no safety equipment. It's not that big a deal. Just tell us don't come back without it. They have even kept time slips being ********.

Thanks man. A lot of great info in here from everyone as well! Not many of us carb guys left out there. Not going to lie, I would love fuel injection for the datalogging capabilities but for simplicity, I love my carb!!

Just ad a data logger to your setup, after you put a cage in it.

a stand alone data logger will easily cost the same if not more than a holley HP, lol. of course....i'm going to get a logger to watch my carb setup so.....

anyway, put a cage in it. i like my friends alive, not dead.
