Default Fuel pump relay question

So naturally I'm running an electric fuel pump (holley hp 125) and when looking at the summit fuel pump relay kit (although I'm not buying it just looked at their instructions for a reference) they suggest mounting the relay close to the fuel pump for best results. Now if it makes a difference I dont mind putting a relay in the back near the fuel pump but I would much rather mount it in the engine compartment because I have a 6 block relay holder that I'm using. What are you guys thoughts on this ?

I've mounted them under hood and trunk. Never noticed a difference.

Depends on the wire gauge. You can use anything for the trigger wire, but need at least 12 gauge wire for the power loop. Mounting close to the pump (when the battery is in the trunk) cuts down on the heavy gauge wire and number of "power" connections...
